Think you'd better go and watch a bit more, it will be less painful on the forehead On the twin shoe both are too short. They also foul the cross members. Sorry. However, I will use the single shoes one old, one new to complete the underframe. A Mossy Works Original is on it's way .......... Paul
At least your using Fusion, so you can retrace your steps in the time line, whatever you have done, you've done the same to both sides of the pivot point. Just look at all the fun, relaxing time your having with these activities - maybe we should take a leaf out of Ianvolvo or Toto's book of life and find the liquid inspiration I had similar fun with the Passenger Tanks water fillers, my test print came out perfect - as the tank fillers still had spigot on the bottom I removed it, then reprinted the model - no tank fillers, I had a 0.01 mm gap between the bottom of the filler and the tank top , It took ages to find. Paul
I’ve had this when I’ve accidentally copy and pasted a part in error and not moved it. IE 2 identical parts in the same spot. Try and see if it deletes and leaves one behind.
Well on a more positive note Brake gear is fitted Bars fitted to the openings - roof is only placed in place Just the hand rail(s) to sort out then ready to go back to the paint shop Paul
Love it Paul, When I've sorted out the brake van I will have a look at that blasted brake gear. Do you want some NER buffer housings, I have plenty, you will have to sort your own buffer heads though. As for the brake, I think I have a solution to my mis-placed holes, I'm just waiting for a revamped jig printing. Then back to it. Mossy
Not perfect but ok, the standard V2 on the left the alternate body version. I'm leaving the axleboxes and wheels till last as they are the most exposed and therefore easily damaged, so next are 10 lamp irons, all without pre-cut location holes (another fix retro applied), then floor and doors. Mossy
Nice one, Mossy Works is heading for full production. Found some handrails knobs of different lengths Now you're going to tell me there was a handrail at both ends Paul
They look good, but I very much doubt that any of the railways would have used such things on a humble cattle wagon. A bent rod with flattened ends being more the norm.
Sorry Paul I agree with Rob simple wire with a half moon fastening as it passes over the end supports. And yep they were on each end. If you have vol 2 of Tatlow LNER wagons look at pages 160/161 there are very clear pictures of the wagon ends. I can scan one if you want. The other thing which I didn't include because it wasn't on the sketch in the Express is horse shunting loops, simple 1/2 circle loops on the solebar of metal normally at the opposite end to the brake levers. Mossy
The horse loops should be fairly straight forward on my HR Timber wagon I have the holes in ready for them - I thought they were handles for the operator - everyday is a learning day. I'll go for a more rustic hand rail at the other end. When you look at the model again, can I suggest making the holes for the wire bars on the side a bit deeper as they were difficult to drill the holes deeper. But looking like a very nice addition to my Pre-grouping stock. Paul
Paul, It's a case of equal and opposites: The holes for the horse loops do exist, they are probably covered by your grey paint although I have no recollection of doing them. As for the end hand rails, it looks like although I had drawn them but I had forgotten to do anything so that's fixed as well - 5mm deep. Not good for you but anyone who follows (Rob and me) will benefit. Glad you like the cattle wagon, your more than welcome to any of the other NER wagons as they get sorted through, just let me know and I will email you the sliced files. Mossy
Hope this is rustic enough 0.8 mm holes drilled and 0.9mm rod inserted into the drill and fitted, then cut over length Next up a card mask was made and fitted. This was also used as a guide to cut a channel in the rods for the handrail to sit in. 0.7mm rod was used for the handrail, soldered in place, then the oversized supports cut back at an angle. And finally the Horse Loops were added. Looks like the paint shop beckons Paul
Impressive Paul, I would simply created a stretched version of the vertical handrail stanchions on the brake van and dropped it into two holes so it rests on the two end beams. If I was feeling creative (but have never done) it would be to add a simple hoop shape to attach the hand rail to the vertical stanchions. Mossy
Clasp brakes - my nemesis. I wasn't looking forward to this but they had to be drawn. First thoughts, would it be possible to fit the brake yokes etc after fitting the wheels and dummy axleboxes or could the build process be done differently. The floor is an easy drop in to the body so would it be possible to build the brake gear and wheel assemblies directly onto the floor, then glue it into the body and finally fit the axle boxes? Well it's only my ego and a ruined van body if it goes wrong so let the trauma begin. I had drawn some brake gear for 3' 7" wheels, so using that as a basis it was modified to fit 3' 1" wheels and printed this morning. First go: The pins are bits of .5mm. It sort of fits but is a bit tight the frame needs extending slightly (the reprint is running now, so more later). Mossy
