    Great project...love a good logging rail and always wanted to get my hands on a Shay loco one day. Cheers for sharing.

    The arch bar trucks were 3D printed. But the next step is to make my own sets :)

    Done my first wheel sets in O gauge - will need to see how well the stand up to handling.

    I tried printing the flange the correct shape and side but found the thin edge would warp. So ended up printing the flange oversize and reduced it to size on my old Unimat 1 toy lathe.




    Ive used a 2mm stainless shaft with 2.1mm ID 3mm OD brass tube for bearings. I 3D printed a jig to assemble the axles.







    Certainly doable.

    Ultrascale sell metal wheel tyres in both 4mm and 7mm - I'd post a link but the site is down for maint :facepalm:.

  18. Paul the printing has turned out nice on those wagon wheels. I also like the wheel jig.
