Hi Gormo. It's actually code 125 bull Head nickel silver. I did use code 100 on a siding on LSD, works fine.

Hi Pete....yes nice morning as the breeze was in the right direction keeping the heat down a little, making it more bearable. Still managed to get sun burnt:cool:

Very impressive track work. You either need huge confidence to take that on or must be barking mad ........ Or a bit of both. :avatar::thumbs:

Toto, as a mate of mine keeps saying, "your only here once, go for it !!"
So yesterday the whole junction was given a coat of Phoenix Sleeper grime after the frogs and one power dropper where soldered in the correct positions (Board had already been marked and drilled ready to accept these wires)

placed in position to do a final check to make sure wire holes were correct.[IMG]

Then the foam was given a coat of neat PVA. (as each section was added i wiped the glue away from the tie bar area)[IMG]

Once in position, all the join's where aligned. I could not use fish plates here as nearly all of the joins are on the frog rails so a small gap was needed. Once happy with the alignment, ballast was sprinkled over the whole area
    [IMG]

As you can see very little ballast is required[IMG]

The shoulders will be sorted out later. Once every thing is covered I placed a large weighted board on top and left it over night. [IMG]

Vacuum off the surplus (use the foot out of your best pair of tights pushed down the vacuum pipe to collect the surplus ballast for use again) [IMG]

This is the result this morning, still lots of detailing to do but the tedious task of ballasting inside the trackwork is mostly completed. [IMG]

Once the final bits of track-work are added I will then spray the whole section again to blend it all in. The inner descending branch line has been installed with two brass screws in the board join, just visible, with the track-work soldered to them. I also solder the dropper wires to these screws.[IMG]

These long sleeps between the running lines, will also be cut back and the ballast touched in (they are left in as the section can be flimsy to handle with out them in position)

So next job is to add the other short pieces of track-work along with brass screws on the joins, solder up the rails to them and add the final droppers, then the whole section can be powered and tested.http://www.click

That's come up a treat Kim, the ballast looks great, ready for some super detailing etc like imitation fish plates on the insulating gaps and some weathering now.

How are you going to power the frogs
A tam valley hex frog ducer may be a good idea then no need to switch anything just change the point blades for the direction you want also stops the shorts when people run through a point the wrong way .

Thanks for all the kind comments gentlemen.... http://www.click
Chris the plan is to power all the frogs from micro switches as you will see below.....

First job was to mark and cut two sections of aluminium angle....

After a few dozen drill holes, some pop rivets and the first batch of nine are done....

The 9g servo is a snug fit in between the angle, so far the test rig one has stayed put but I may add a small blob of silicon or glue after they are all fitted and tested.[IMG]

Micro switch (5 amp rating) is mounted on the outside, either left or right of the servo arm, or later on possible two switches, one to change the frog polarity and the other for switching lights /signals..

hole for the wire needs cleaning up.....this acts as the pivot point for the wire, which once the servo arm has moved fully in one direction bends the wire slightly which in turn keeps positive pressure on the point blades

Hi Ron, nope that was a productive hours work this morning..... the weekend was to try and move the junction board on a bit more......

Space for the signal box on the left, and I think it would be nice to have a tree lined back drop to this section

That's a really great piece of trackwork you have there and something to be proud of, I had wanted to build my own track when I first started out but let my father talk me out of it much to my regret.

I think the whole scene will look very good once the box and trees are added.

Ralph....Piano wire, easier to shape and cut Ron, thanksJim, yes the trees will make a nice change from the industrial scene on LSD.

Placed an order for all the servos I will need, but these will take 20 plus days to arrive, so I will continue with wiring up and testing using the 3 servos I have.
