It's all coming together nicely Kim Very neet I like the station platform Have you checked the loco overhang at the point to the platform edge ?
Thanks Ralph / Chris. Yes Chris the clearance is close but all the locomotive that will use the station clear it including the class 37. The only one that does catch is the 08 diesel which is very wide with the rods sticking out so much, but i did not intend to use it on this board anyway. http://www.click
That looks good Kim with the realistic clearance Even sprouted some greenery what a difference. The 08 I'm guessing will be restricted to the yards anyway.
Well done Kim, and to all those out there that haven't seen it up close it all looks as impressive in the flesh, so to speak! Laying O gauge track is a new experience to me but quite satisfying I must say, (and I've only helped a teeny bit) just a bit more awkward to move the sections around......furniture, doorways, tea cups..... And where did that afternoon go......?
It looks great. And yes, it's amazing how an afternoon can disappear when you get immersed in layout building. The sign of an enjoyable day.
Wow, this has come a long way since I last looked in. Great work Kim, I'm impressed with the speed. Looking forward to more of the same. Cheers, Gary.
Thanks for all the kind comments http://www.clickWith the help of Ralph and Chris last week with the two awkward shaped boards, work has continued outside as the weather is so nice. I've moved onto the "easy" storage / passing loops / fiddle yard boards. these pictures show two of the three boards as of to days efforts. Two main running lines on the left, split into two storage loops, track on the right is the link between LSD and the loops, with a storage loops for pushpull / dmu set. Outer loops is 1.2 m and the inner is 1.4m, both will easily take two coaches and a locomotive. Inner mainline loops will be closer to 3.4m of storage.. Tight on the back wall, but the class 37 goes around it with a couple of mill to spare. Yellow wires are for the Frog polarity, Points will be operated by surface mounted servos. Brass screws at all base board joints with droppers soldered in place and then the track-work cut with a dremel. Inner corner will need a small section added. These boards will then be cut down about 60mm in from the inner track to reduce the depth. "B" set will fit in easily with the longest locomotive I have. Now I need to move on to the last fiddle yard board and complete the loops.......
Wow, That's some amount of track you've got down there. Just means lots more lovely ballasting.looking forward to seeing it coming on. Cheers Toto
Beautiful stuff there Kimbo, Takes up a bit of room though when you lay it out as you have there... http://www.clickGormo
layout update... the three scenic boards are now fitted together and raised 186mm off the lower boards.Ballasting has started on the left hand track which is the branch line to the high level station board. Middle two are the loops at high level and the right hand track is the incline branch to the lower boards.Gradient has worked out at 1.89 so just below the original target of 2.0 which seems to be the recommend gradient for O gauge. Track power has now been wired to LSD. Junction board in the distance and curved window board now ready for track work to be weathered and more scenic work. Trees are to small, still awaiting the order for the larger trees and more scenic material to make the rear of the boards look like a typical tree / hedge row. I'm going to leave the walls white and hopefully it will look OK Start of the storage boards. The small branch storage loop is a tight curve but there's no buffer lock and plenty of room for the suburban set, in fact it will take three coaches. this shot shows the main storage area and a view into the back of LSD. Loops now connected to the hidden line behind the warehouse. Yellow tape shows the limit of wagon storage. Coach storage will push this line back about 200mm due to the overhang. Overall shot showing where I'm at. The next job will be to install the last board for the three curved lines and a removable section to allow easy access into the inside of the loops....
