I built an MHG guards van from plywood with cardboard, pop sticks and balsa used where required. Tie wire was used for the handrails etc.
I made a mistake and did not imprint the louvres deep enough so it has been waiting replacement.
Today I installed proper decals to replace my wobbly old hand painted versions. Such a difference it makes I think this MHG will be running for many more years to come. :>)

I decided to refresh my cardboard knowledge.
For this I chose a simple conversion, to whit convert a 3-rail US short ore wagon to a NSWGR short ore wagon.
The process is simple, remove body, couplers and wheels, throw in parts bin. Keep bogie frames and add some finescale wheels.
Cut and glue cardboard, balsa and tie wire and attach to bogies, add Kadees and Voila!

Just to beat myself about a bit more I decided a carriage was needed.
I am making it in card and have taken the 'easy' path by doing the matchboard sided version with crown lights. :>)

Thanks guys, time to take a deep breath before the next project.
Main costs were the wheels, $7 for the s/h Lima bogie frames and the Kadees.
I think I got away with under $40 .... that's about two pounds fifty at the moment I think :>)
