    Hi York Paul,
Thank you ever so much very kind of you. We are hoping to expand our track soon hopefully on Thursday buy some more from a friend that owns a shop in Holdsworthy Devon who trades in all gauges but 16mm is his favourite. Our next show is at Crantock near Newquay on the 22nd of June so before then if things go according to plan the track should be laid and ready to go. Will keep you posted .
    Regards,
    Gloria.

Sounds like a cracking weekend was had by all Gloria, nice one :tophat:

Just as an aside, the photo of the layout shows overcentre catches holding the boards together. I haven't seen that type before, where did you get them please?

    Pete.

    Good morning Pete,
Thank you ever so much for your kind reply, yes a lovely week-end was had by all.Got another display to put on in June 22nd. At Crantock near Newquay that is a one day event. The next one is a 3 day event in North Cornwall in July.
The catches you enquired about were bought on EBay from a firm in Glasgow.Well worth the money as they come in 3 different sizes small medium and large we are using medium ones but turned out to be large but they do the job as intended.
    Regards,
    Gloria.

    Good morning Toto,
Yes it does doesn't it:avatar:but it's lovely that members on here have also taken an interest, as I know most of your modellers are into 0 gauge, 00 Gauge, and N Gauge.
It is a very busy 3 months ahead of us. Also we are now going to extend our track with more running roads than just the 2 circuits. The general public has helped a bit over last week-end with their very kind donations, which has helped in purchasing more track. The children that attended loved it and were able to drive an R/C Electric Loco under supervision of one of our members That went down well. Lots of people were taking photos with phone cameras and professionals alike. 16mm down here has been going on down here for quite a number of years but not to the extent that we gave managed to create with members coming out of the woodwork so to speak. Also my partner is a qualified boiler tester and can issue certificates so member's can steam in public.
    Regards,
    Gloria.

Hi Gloria, if I can just comment on your convo with Toto I see the reason why many members are interested in your 16.5 NG project is because it is something different and has a slightly unusual take away from the norm, by that I mean you and your partner are driving a project in a new way and that is attracting other ex NG members down in Cornwall to want to be a part, so the same goes here members enjoy learning about the latest developments and goings on with your live steam. Just look at Clive's resurrected garden railway thread and we see how many hits that gets... its the same principle again and generates good interest all in the spirit of Platform 1 Forum.
Now the main reason why there seems to be a large O Gauge contingent on here is because the O Gaugers mainly post up the news on their respective projects with the OO Gauge chaps to a lesser extent, Matt and Ben and Gormo and Dublo are regular posters and come from their each respective angles but it would be great to have more threads on the smaller gauges. I guess it is a matter of encouraging folk and I've probably missed out mentioning a shed load of OO Gauge chaps too but do please keep the updates from Cornwall coming as it is a very important gendre in our hobby.

    cheers York Paul

    Good evening York Paul,
Thank you ever so much for your kind words. In my belief hard work pays off and that has now been proved. Heston Railway were shocked to see our large scale portable railway built up and running within 4 weeks, as somebody said don't think it can be done, but there we are we did it.our members were very impressed and Locos ran all day over the 2 days.I used to have an indoor 00 gauge layout then changed to N gauge as it was smaller and put into a coffee table 8x2.as my eyesight deteriorated sold it and went into16mm live steam and battery operated locos.Narrow gauge railways are lovely had a ride on Launceston Steam Railway yesterday for the first time in my life and it was very fascinating travelling along in the woods.Hoping to go to Wales sometime not sure when though. Will keep you informed of our progress.
    Regards,
    Gloria..
