Excellent film Dundee... it reminds me of the time in the 1970's when a small gang of unscrupulous goods porters on night shifts at Longport Parcels Concentration Depot were steeling consignments to order, the BTC Police were onto them after heaps of complaints that transhipments were being lost and effectively untraceable. BTC Stoke did a night raid on Longport PCD and discovered heaps of return mail order traffic including a three piece suite hidden under the timber platform decking of the loadings shed. By that time in the 1970's most of the RES traffic there consisted mainly of return catalogue stuff for Grattons, Freemans, Great Universal or Empire Stores, very little cross town cartage, PLA or livestock traffic existed by then... no wonder it all went down the chute I think politically the railway wanted rid of such loss making liabilities, hence the rise of City Link and the now long dead Red Star guaranteed fast parcel dispatch system.
