While sorting out the other items of rolling stock that I have listed for sale I was also going to list this but realised that for some reason I had never done anything with the roof. Earlier today I added a canvas covered and then painted and weathered the roof to match the rest and then stuck it on.

How did you replicate the canvas covering Rob? I'm going to do my coach roof in a similar manner.

    Hi Pete,

I use spectacle lense cleaning tissues. Once we have cleaned our glasses I save the tissues and let them dry out. Then I stick them on with pva. The pva wets them enough to allow them to stretch and they shrink again when they are dry leaving the odd wrinkle which proper canvas has.

On coaches because a single one isn't long enough I use two or more pieces, just allowing a slight overlap to simulate a joint in the canvas.
I am not sure what exactly they are made of but they are really quite tough and will stand quite a bit of stretching before they tear.

Thanks Rob, I was going to use masking tape same as my station buildings roofs. Definitely going to use your method instead, my glasses will never be as clean again!! :avatar:
