Its been ages again since my last update but I have done a little more today, I wanted a wooden fence between the railway and the fields so having bought hundreds of coffee stirrers of evilbay I set to making my own, by cutting and glueing the parts together, after 3 hours I had almost lost the will to live however I think it was worth it, this is it waiting for the glue to dry.

I then cut down some old rocket sticks I found in the garden after bonfire night to make the uprights, before fixing it in place I decided to do some more grassing, I,ve used dry straw colour 6mm to give some variety, I,m going to paint the fence before I glue it in place, anyway, a couple more pics.

A bit more work on the buildings, put some weeds and brambles in and the bridge end will be nearly finished.

Thats all for now, cheers, Pete.

A bit late now Pete, but in the past I have used woodstain - the nasty enviromentally unfriedly type.

I put the timbers (in my case ply sleepers) in to a jar, then added a small amount of stain, and left for a few days, the stain evenly spread between the sleepers, if patchy add a bit more. The advantage was the stain is through the whole piece, so no pale bits when you cut the edge.

I used Dark Oak for freshly Cresoted timbers, and Teak or Antique Pine for worn / faded timbers.

Those timbers were done ang clued in place over 20 years ago - teak stain, and the wood grain shows as well.

The fencing has now been sprayed with grey car primer, I wanted a weathered look to it, and glued in place, when the glue has dried tomorrow I will give it some dry brushing with brown, black, white and gunmetal. I will post some photos afterwards.

    Cheers, Pete.

Cocktail sticks... Hmm now theres an idea, the rustic type fencing with twisted wire around the top and bottom to hold it together, mind you I thought making the last lot was soul destroying the thought of twisting fuse wire between each upright doesn,t appeal that much!

A bit more done to the scenics, fence painted and weathered.

I hadn,t noticed I had missed a bit when painting, though it doesn,t look so bad in the flesh, I have built another, shorter fence at the end, I am going to extend it to the bridge and along the rear bank.

With the buildings in place and brambles grown its looking more realistic, still loads to do though.

Happy new year folks, cheers, Pete.
