Wow thanks all, I,ve only just noticed, got to up the ante now, I will have to try and do something about a backscene instead of my very untidy shed :avatar:.

    Cheers, Pete.

Considering my last post on this topic is over 3 years ago, I think I had better show what I have been doing. Well not much to be truthful, I have been working on my other layouts but have made and fitted a buffer stop at the coal yard end and I've been making and fitting some more fencing to the rear.
The reason for all this work? I have been invited to a small one day, actually, 3 hour hobby and interests show, a kind of show and tell. I've got just over a week to get it done. So wish me luck, I will post up some more photos later of the progress.

    Cheer's, Pete.

Well I've had a couple of successful days working on it, I've made a base for it to sit on out of some, roughly, 4in x 1/2in timber to give a bit more rigidity, though to be fair it hadn't sagged but it gives me a bit more to grip when handling it.

Still needs a tidy up and painting.

A bit more fencing installed and painted, it still needs a section at the goods yard end, its made but is drying after painting this afternoon.
I have also put some static grass down at that end too, once the glue-pva-has dried I can hoover up the excess and fit the fencing.

Anyway, that's it for now, hopefully tomorrow I can fit the fencing and make a start on a back and ends scene boards.

    Cheer's for now, Pete.

I'm liking the way you make those baseboards using PSE timber.:tophat::thumbup: The scenery also looks fantastic :tophat::tophat::tophat:

    Cheer's Paul.
I've been back in the shed tonight and hoovered up the excess static grass into one of SWMBO old stockings, glued the rest of the fencing in, it still needs the paint finishing but thats for tomorrow.
After much faffing about I have found the buildings etc and placed them for effect. The derelict house needs some leveling and detailing. The coal yard needs finishing and the backscene boards making, I have found some 4mm ply for that, its unfortunately 1/2in too short . I will get round it:headbanger:
    Photos.

Ok, so I have spent the week trying to get ready for the show. As normal, nothing go's the way you planned and this week has been no different.
Any way, I did manage to knock up a set of boards for the backscene but I only got one end board primed, now I'm back I will do the others and paint them pale blue. I'm not sure whether to paint the scenics or use photo scenes, hmm, decisions decisions....
I made a small box to mount the NCE plug socket, and wired a jack plug and socket for the track power supply. I wish I had measured the depth of the NCE socket with power feed jack in  as the box is about 10mm too small, still works but looks odd, a fairly easy fix though.
    Some photos.

    And at the show.
    IMG_2370.JPG

Everything ran without any problems, which is nice, and attracted quite a lot of interest plus a couple of invitations which surprised me! One chap came to have a look and he informed me he used to be a fireman and driver at Barrow Hill loco shed just down the road from where we were.
A couple more photos of the show to give an idea of what it was about.

Anyway thats all for now, once I've got me breath back, I will do a bit more to get it ready for its next outing. Also I'm going to build a fiddle stick to give a bit more operating interest-for me!

    Cheer's, Pete.
