So, the arrival of the beast in Irn Bru livery. My first foray into American Railroading stock. Straight into the pictures. This Engine came with a Caboose as part of the deal. and another ....... and its quite well boxed....... and of course out the box. feels quite heavy and pretty well constructed. Does not look to plasticky either which was my main concern when I saw it online........ Couplers are huge but they are also remotely activated. Real chain closes of the guards gate there. all in all ........ its ok. Now the loco ......... still dont know if its 2 or 3 rail. forgot to look underneath when I had it out the box. Hopefully its 2 rail or at least convertible from 3 to 2. fair old size when they are married up ....... has a mean looking face on it doesn't it. plenty detail there. neat enough paint job. solid colours even if they ain't your cup of tea...... and the other end ...... As you can imagine, its heavy. There is quite a lot of metal in the build which I like. Gives a little more confidence in the overall build. I have not had a chance to read up on the instructions to find anything more on the specification of this yet but I will. If anyone knows anything about these ....... feel free to chip in. Hope you like. cheers toto
Hi Ron, Glad you like it. Its growing on me as I was not a fan of american stuff at first but the more I see it ......... It will sit there for a later project ...... a much later project. I'll just need to look at yours for the time being. cheers toto
So, what kind of freight wagons would go with this in the same time period ? I suppose it depends on the type of industry they served in New Jersey. I'd prefer closed vans of some description I think. I'm thinking warehousing type thingy bob's for a short ( ish ) type plank diorama. ( eventually ) Then there is a controller.
The loco is fairly modern looking so I'd expect, 50ft steel box vans, 57ft Reefers, Coal gondolas, 3 bay covered hoppers Fill yer boots as they say Paul
Looks like it's 3 rail only Toto, looking at them on the web. Great value for money in o scale. Did you buy it from the USA dealers on eBay? Kim
