Hi all I have just received a Rapido Dynamometer car. I have to say it is the most beautiful model To my eyes I can not fault it. Does anyone know what the latching magnetic switch is being used to switch the lights on and off. I would like to fit them into some coaches I have. Be seeing you Bob
Hi the magnetic switch is probably something like a magnetic latching reed switch touch magnet on touch again off. Paul
As Paul says it is a magnetic latching reed switch. You can get them individually or as part of a coach lighting set from Layouts4U. Jim
I'd already ordered some 3 pin changeover reed switches from a UK Ebay supplier, but unfortunately on arrival, they turned out to not be the latching type, so are no use for this application. At £3 apiece for the latching version from Layouts4U, and with 37 coaches to fit, I'll not yet now be doing this until I can source much cheaper switches. For less than that kind of money, I could incorporate a latching relay, but then there's the question of space, although that's no problem for the "O" gaugers. Further research needed for me, I think. Keith.
Hi Keith I am lucky I am only converting 3 coach's just to recreate the famous speed run. The reeds came today from layouts4u. now I am waiting for the loco headlights and the sound chip already got the red tail lamp and the smoke unit. I will post when the job's done. All the best Bob
