This loco was donated to the local club Preston O gauge as a kit part built (well 10% started ) As a mainly steam orientated club I said I would complete . I had got the body to a finished state and had painted in the original green and white livery but being over ambitious though I would spray paint the white lines down the body sides . On removing the masking tape unfortunately brought away a good proportion of the body side paint . So a complete strip down was required . Mojo lost on this one until last week and now tidying up all those bits that where damaged in the paint strip . I intend to paint as D5380 in two tone green as something different .

    Hi Toto
Still trying to load some images does some but not others ? Re the RJH build it would be unfair to compare to Pauls new builds as different as chalk and cheese . Steves kits have now moved on and are a superior model . The RJH is a basic model but with a lot of work can be upgraded to create a real good model . I have had to add a fairing round the cab ,rain strip over the cab roof , Bogies will need a complete refurb to get the rounded profile at the front and back ,numerous pipes and fittings need to be added and the battery box needs attention . It all depends on how much you want to do . Or go and buy a Heljan not the same satisfaction but gives a good representation straight out of the box and with a few additions and weathering makes up into a first class loco (see Mr D site as to what can be achieved ). Its horses for courses but SBT new kits look the business and a significant upgrade from his first and second generation kits which you could compare to this build .

All the best in what you and Steve are hoping to achieve and I hope the venture is a run away success there is definitely a market for those souls who still want to build something .

Hi there Andrew I hope you resolve and overcome the picture upload gremlins, your comments are indeed very interesting to know. Now if I may ask please also do feel free to upload and additionally comment about this subject on my thread "Class 27 from kit to completion" as there is a lot of interest being generated there and folk may find it easier in some way to follow. Originally the thread started life as my personal Class 27 test run build but it morphed into the Class 26 display model for Llangollen Diesel Group, subsequently Highander Models was born and now the thread has become the prototype build hub for Tom's project. So you see it has evolved and your comments and responses regarding this subject build will be most welcomed there.

Anyway its great to have you on board here and I'm sure a lot of folk will be grateful for your advice and knowledge as we move this project forward.:tophat:

In the mean time many thanks again for your support, Yorkie

Theses are the bogies that need upgrading originally done to get something running but having seen the Class 27 build bogies will be adapting to something more prototypical .

I get similar Cattish issues, although mine seems to sit on my knee and dig it claws into my nether regions if I lean forward to use the keyboard - and the dog just keeps out of the way, suppose he works on the premise if i'm getting mauled he's getting left alone.

    Nice build

Happy memories of the Class 25/3 I built sometime in the late 80's - my first ever Gauge 0 model.

Did also buy a Class 81 Kit which I thought was very nice actually. Sold it on in 1993 when I lost my job.

Some more following the strip down . Together with why the battery and fuel tanks need some work .

I'm sure it'll look the part when you have finished with it. You have a good donor mod3l to work with. Certainly looks solid enough.
