I just picked up on the o gauge wagon com ent from Gary .......... you slippery beggar. A gentle slide into the fold completely unannounced and with much slipperyness. A closet o gauger....... come on in........ don't be shy Ron.
Well cracked-on tonight, managed to lift the track and level crossing OK and lay the curved track. But have a look at the photo's and see if you can think of the scenery needed? I think a road bridge , over the track and behind the loco sheds to hide the curve?? I did have some help! Cheers Ron
Remember you buying that Ron, for the transfer siding you were going to do. I've got a Dapol one, although my transfer siding has disappeared under an engine shed Ed
Its said a change is as good as a rest, its also good to get the creative juices going as well. Pete.
I like what you have done so far Ron, but having Network Rail helping out, that work should have taken longer... Will you reinstate the level crossing on the curve ?? Cheers, Gary.
Hi Gary, no I'm putting the crossing at opposite corner near the shed window (on a straight!) and designing a bridge/tunnel where the crossing was. I'll put some photo's up later today.. cheers Ron
Photo's, not a lot done today just base painted the 'plank' and did the measurements for the old level crossing end bridge/tunnel!
Bit more done today, sorted the dimensions for the bridge/tunnel and a bit of painting done.. I'm thinking, a 6' wall between the rails and the road to the bridge, or fencing?? Cheers Ron
Added the exit from the station to the shelving unit, its all screwed down and to the wall as well. The biggest headache will be the curve and the bridging unit across here!! I need to plan and put some thought into this!!
Working away today figuring out the best way across the door and wondered why I was having problems lining the 'planks' up!! It soon became obvious what the problem was!! Warped wood!! Thank you Wicks!!! But I am pleased with my new purchase, a detailed Pullman coach with working table lamps, chuffed!!
As your layout is fixed you may be better using ply. It is a lot more stable. Now that is a handsome coach. The standard of build now is amazing! Pete.
Understood Pete, got some new wood today (and checked it!) and started the corner build. Still got to figure out the bridge unit and the DCC electrics! Ron
My brother in laws dad built a layout around the walls in his shed and he made the section that crossed the door completely removable. He wired it and had plugs and sockets for the power supply at both ends. Worked a treat. Cheer's, Pete.
That's what I'm thinking Pete, I used a hinged bridge in my previous shed layout. Worked OK but was a pain to line up because of the play in the hinges!! Cheers ron
I used Station Road Baseboards pattern makers dowels to align my baseboards, as these are brass, you could use these for the drop in section at either end (two per end) and wire them up, you could even turn them into removable cassettes. Paul
