    Cheers Kim

Must remember to fit the window sills - for the large windows I will need to stretch the kit ones for the small windows.

Worked of the small windows - I've gone for smaller asymetrical sized windows, we'll see how the turn out.

With 9 on the build plate

Gives a few spare, just in case.

That's the printer started, and as it's 1:40am, I'm going to bed before I meet myself on the way down.

Ok - a little fidling to get the size a little closer - It would have been easier if the the ham fisted numpty cutting out the card could do it consistantly :whatever:

    However here's some pics

These all need painting, weathered, glazed, window sills fitting before final fitting of the windows into place.

Well my first purchase - TX07 Aged Brown Brick.

My first warning for folks - make a note of the printer and print settings you use on the printer, as the colouring can change depending on the paper / quality settings, and this can change between printer makes / models.

The following was printed on Sumvision Matt coated Inkjet Paper, printed on a Epson XP-8500. Paper selection Epson Matt Paper. Left hand side High quality setting, Right hand side Standard setting

This will be the paper used for the rear wall.

Hopefully a bit more progress this weekend

    I keep mentioning the sills

On the kit they are supplied for the smaller top windows, as my larger windows should be doors.

I require 6 of the smaller window sills and 4 larger window sills.

    Smaller sills

I could just print 3 copies of the sheet - but I only need the hightlighted section

    upload_2020-11-13_16-29-5.png

Which is a hellava lot o ink, especially at £100 per set of original cartridges

So I clipped the sills and pasted into Paint shop Pro.

I also strectched the sills to make them long enough to do the larger windows.

Duplicated them with a few spares - not sure whats happening on the rear wall - yet.

    upload_2020-11-13_16-33-6.png

Why so many - well I'm going to use them for the lintels as well.

    Off to the printer.

Wow - it's been a few weeks without any progress.

Procrastination is my main excuse  :avatar:

In the Dundee area, we have lots of Ashlar buildings with Decorative window surrounds - yes even some of the Industrial ones as well. So ........

    upload_2020-11-29_12-48-20.png

A test to see how it looks

and following on from the purchase of the Lychee Slicer software I'm trying a test print using thier default settings - I am expecting this to fail, but you never know, and I'm using supports.

    upload_2020-11-29_12-51-24.png

A couple of hours will show up the results

    Meanwhile .....

I've started to assemble the two sides - combination of clamps and engineers squares - think I know what my next 3D print project should be :whatever:

Test print shows promise - but I need to add an additional support to the right hand end of the sill

I'll test fit the windows later to see if the concept will work.

The photo in the above image was the worse effected print.

    But to give a compasrison

Which do you think looks the best - the surround will be in a stoneish colour, the window frames in a Scottish Region blue - similar to the kit colours

    Next up the larger windows

    upload_2020-12-1_0-29-4.png

Then exported the modified window - a .stl file, and imported into Lychee Slicer, supports added, with additional supports at the ends to avoid the issues from the small window.
Duplicated to give 10 windows - that will be revealed later - the result of more provarication

Need to make some progress .......

Ok .. the model will be in two main sections - actually it will eventually have 3 sections, but that will probably after the competition. So I need the end wall and intermediate wall to mark the change of roof. This was maked out on Foam board.

The intermediate wall has the cutout - the otherside will nned to be done later.

Then wrapped with the Ashlar brick paper and allowed to dry before final trimming.

While waiting I started on the ceiling / roof sections

Now that the bits have dried time to glue the end on, actually this turned into glues both ends on as the first one fell off.

As before a combination of clamps and engineers squares to assemble the parts

The intermediate wall has just been placed in position to give an idea of how it will look

Just need to give the glue time to set.

Looking good Paul. That will be a rather large building once complete !
I better really pull my finger out ! Next weekend is the closing date and having gone back to work this week has left me less time to model... :faint:

    Cheers, Gary.

Know the feeling well ... and I've seemingly retired, but still go in to help with the decommissioning - freedom date is a provisional 18th.

Viccy Road is going through a bit of a rethink, with possibly putting a reversing loop at the end of an extension, allowing the DMU's to be fully automated, and loco hauled services to go out and back without intervention. This building will be used in part of the coverup of the reversing loop, and will get a two storey building at the rear - funnyily enough it will be compliant with the competition rules.

The ends have dried - time to glue to the base before any more accidents

Time to visit the shops , but should give the glue time to dry - also I've run out of glue sticks, foam board and 2mm Grey board, may cost me a coffee at Dunelm for the Boss followed by a vist to Hobbycraft as we walk back to the car - see i'm not just a pretty face i'm a conniving bu**er as well :avatar:

Apparently it is the only building left within the nearby that has capacity to store all of Toto's unbuilt kits :avatar:

To give a rough idea of size (well length at the moment as I've run out of thick card either 2mm grey board or 5mm foam board - didn't get to hobby craft, the boss had other more important tasks for me to do :whatever:).

Depth wise it will be two panels (380 - 390 mm), I've yet to decide whether the roof will be a single or double apex, probable a double to keep the height down.

Just to keep the tally of materials up to date

Kits parts plus TX45 Ashlar brick paper. I will need to use the TX05 Painted brick or the TX50 Limewashed Stone for the inside walls.

Only a small amount of progress

I made a page with two copies of the main wall - one reversed as I will be using several of these to form the extension walls.

The first floor has had the upper windows trimmed off and glued to the wall

I've a day off tomorrow, so will hopefully get some more grey board.
