You will be ok with that little wagon kit Mark, on the build thread started this week I'm going to cover how to release the pieces from the frets, this is important as a 4mm kit being delicate will break so much more easily and that's always at the weakest point just where you don't want it. I'll crack on tomorrow evening so you are not held up waiting for me. Nice little wagon tho.

The Slaters wagons make into very nice kits, but are very light in weight (as are most plastic kits).
Suggest adding weight to the underframe (lead works well), and for the open wagon you may need to add a heavy load.
I use the ounce per axle guideline (25 - 30g), often tho' I had to add more as I had a few whitemetal kits which were far heavier.

    Enjoy

    Paul

Looks like a fun one to build, will watch this one as and when you get started.
I would agree with Paul, you’ll need to add weight. On open wagons I put a lead “false” floor in, which when weathered cannot be seen and still allows you to add a load of your choice.

Hi everyone hope you are all safe and well.
This morning I made a start on building my mineral wagon kit. Thanks to Yorkie for providing the kit build process.
I have noticed that the OO gauge mineral wagon kit is not as detailed as the O gauge stuff but it’s still lovely to build.
I have added a couple of pictures of my kit build progress.

Thanks for the nice comments, I’m not to sure yet Toto about livery.
I’m so pleased Yorkie made the build thread as the instructions with the kit are blurry and really small to read.

I think I will be going for the grey livery. I have taken a photo of the parts I have left, but need some advice now.
Will I need to bushes for the wheel axles and also where can I purchase some 8 spoke wheel sets from. I have another problem the build instructions are s**t and I need to know where the underneath parts go.

    Hello Mark,

I have built the 7mm version of the same wagon. I will dig it out and take some photos of the underframe for you.

    Here you go Mark,

I built mine as the single sided brakes version that these wagons were equipped with. Before posting I had a look in Bob Essery's Midland wagons vol 1 and it looks like these wagon were extinct by 1945 and pictures of them in post 1937 LMS livery still show them with brakes one side only.

I would if I were you. It will make for a much better running wagon. You can get them from Wizard Models - about half way down this page. https://www.wizardmodels.ltd/product-category/wheels/page/2/
