I have decided to start the Townstreet build a plank competition with a OO plank, the theme suits something I have been thinking about for a long time plus I have more than enough rolling stock of a certain type to use with my idea and DJ models via Hattons have advised that a certain model is finaly going to be released in August
I had pre ordered a Toto sized fleet :avatar:and already have 2 old ones by a well known manufacture so even if the new ones don't turn up by November I will have locos to suit the theme, I already have a Diesel, a little blue Trojan for the transitional part of the theme.
It's going to be dark and dirty .:headbanger:
I have the idea of early morning with subdued coloured LED lighting and the sun about to rise over the hills on the Backscene

Lets see who works it out first there are enough clues above should be easy.:avatar:

    Hi Chris,

I'm looking forward to this. I'll need to check outHattons to see which releases are due in August. May present another clue.

    We're watching.

Dark and dirty. Backscene by LS Lowry then? As for music, you'll need something grim and British. Elgar is too early and too cheery, so who else? Some of those dark 1960s film noir numbers might have the right music. And a fog machine please, with a half-concealed body.
I like the grim theme. I keep modelling Midsomer Murders without the deaths.

Bruce great theme there may have to change what I'm doing:avatar: no no, to much already in progress for this.

Thought the DJmodels/Hattons long awaited reference would have got everyone to the prototype the theme is going to based around.

I have found out that the models ordered are mostly pre weathered as well I'm sure they weren't originally to be weathered but the prepro's look nice on Hatton's site. Only one isn't weathered won't be too clean for long.

Especially working in all the black stuff for a living.

The NCB systems across Britain will be the inspiration for my plank and be the home to all the Austerity/J94 and other NCB Locos I have and have on order.
Will also be needing some odd wagons so is a chance to kit bash some or modify RTR items
There won't be many sleepers visible due to all the muck and overgrown track

Inspired by photos like these on Flickr

The coaling facility's back up to the concrete bank and shovel it in.

This time it's an open wagon and that would be a good throw up into the bunker not always on target by the look of all the coal on the ground

This is one of the new Locos that has been pre orded and been advise that it is due in August, so that is what made up my mind to do the OO plank as a NCB based generic scene with the transition theme with all the decay that was around with the modern world encroaching fast

Interesting Locos are part of the Draw of the NCB systems and the Subject of my Plank
This being one of them X LMS 3F Jinty from what I can find it was at NCB Peppers Yard may have moved around like many of the Locos, and is now preserved at the Midland railway centre I seem to remember Riding behind as a Kid In 1981 on a cold wet day, when it was In Crimson colours

    Raw materials sourced today

After meeting with New platform1 member Cameron, was good to meet you Cameron.

I then popped into the hardware shop for a plank and a few other bits.
Grabbed lunch, A sausage sandwich from the Boy Scouts out the front of the hardware doing a fundraiser.
Then a quick Hello to Leadie69 who works next to the hardware shop

Now to turn this into a plank to hold the train tracks
then the biggest thing is to find my box of old track haven't seen it since March not going to use any new track it's all been pre loved in many layouts since I was a little tacked plus most of the track work you won't be able to see the sleepers for all the coal & muck then what's left will have over grown grass
    That's the plan any way

Whilst watching M.A.S.H I have knocked the basics of the "Plank" together the nice plank I started with would yield 2 planks if required, it started at 1220mm X 610mm so good value for plank making, it now stands at the required 1220mm X 300mm X 70mm for a OO plank
Photo, frame parts dry run ready to assemble.

Next photo is the finished base Still have to add a frame to surround the plank as a Backscene and hold the lighting rig, but I will do that after I work out the required height with the pit head cable winder.

All up this single plank cost $24 or £10 so good value.
