Hi Alan The word that was bleeped over was p a c k i n g the first 5 letters being bleeped out, I'll point this out to Matt and get him to alter accordingly. At times unexpected results can occur whilst setting up the bad word filter, it takes time for the wrinkles to get ironed out.
Hello tanygear, thanks you for explaining what it was all about. It puts my mind at ease to know that I did not open my mouth and put my foot in it. Regards Alan
Hi Alan, Apologies that I missed your question regarding the bleep. It would appear that our language checker is a bit sensitive. Apologies if this has caused any upset. I think it's something that we could all get accidentally caught with whilst it is developed further. The build is superb by the way. Keep it coming please. Cheers for now Toto
Hi Alan Watch out watch out the BLEEPER is about !! Sorry about that young sir Bleep list duly refined so you can get packing to your hearts content Cheers Matt
Hello Matt6911, Thanks for your reply. Its either me with fat fingers or the cat walking on my keyboard that might cause offensive words to be written. Regards Alan
Not at all Alan , you were blameless. Sometimes an offensive word can be hidden in a word in every day use and I have to 'Define ' that word so it doesn't get bleeped out of a longer word , but does get bleeped out in its own right It's only when someone like yourself uses the normal word and part of it gets bleeped that it gets brought to my attention so I can edit the list Nothing to do with your typing my friend Cheers matt
Hello Matt Thanks for that. I think we all have a touch of fat finger syndrome at some point. Regards Alan
Hello all, its been a long time since my last post as i am now at a loss as what to do next with my layout. The layout has not been to any exhibitions as it would cost nearly £300 to hire a van and as i'm on a limited income i cant afford it and the rolling stock is in its stock boxes sitting on top of my sons wardrobe so i am thinking of dismantling the layout and selling the rolling stock and changing gauges as i would be able to run O gauge as often as needed. if i sell my OO stock the money raised would finance my O gauge stock. opinions suggestions advice criticisms welcome Alan
Hi Alan good to hear from you again ref the 'oh' gauge there are plenty of big boys on the platform now ... no doubt they'll offer plenty of tips ... just a mere mention of thingy m'jiggy brings an avalanche of advice and once they've got you yer doomed ... oo will be a distant memory ... Ian
ianvolvo. thanks for your reply. Thats how i got involved with O gauge in the first instants. I joined my local model railway club with the intent of being in the OO section but got persuaded to join the O gauge section and never looked back. regards Alan
Hi Alan, you've got to go with what suits you. There have been many converts for various reasons. if you can run O Gauge at home and you are happy with what you can incorporate into it ......... go for it. When building an exhibition layout, the cost of moving it around is an additional cost that its easy to forget about. Follow your heart. I'm sure someone will snap up your OO stock and give you a fresh start. OO gauge is still the most popular, I'm sure a buyer will be found soon. Toto
Hi Alan As SMRChris would put it I'm now a confirmed Rubber Gauger - OO, O, HO, and P4, and have a dedicated wall which can have a layout of 11.5 ft long. This also has the advantage of being able to fit in the back of an estate car, so exhibitions are possible, but with a more modest expenditure for transport. Paul
Oh no ! Alan going to the rather large dark side !! The dark side was once DCC and all that other electrickery, now it's known as O gauge !! Like Toto said, whatever direction your heart wishes to take you, embrace and just enjoy it. Don't forget that you can post up items of sale in the Sales section : http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_forum.php?id=62 Cheers, Gary.
Hi Alan, going slightly off topic, when you say you don,t do exhibitions because of the cost of van hire, all the exhibitions I,ve done the organisers pay expenses to cover costs like van hire fuel etc. Cheers, Pete.
hello Pete sorry for late reply but it would cost me £300 but 200 is a refundable deposit as im on benefits i have to be extremely careful with my money (Tight is the short explanation) regards Alan
As you are well aware I am contemplating selling my OO stock and dismantling my layout due to its size of 23ft x 8ft. Here is a possible solution to the problem. in photo 1 you see plain track photo 2 you see templates layed on track work of photo 1 this in theory will make redundant the track work in photo3 and reduce the layout by 4ft 4in. As most of my stock is presents and gifts collected over my 50 years in the hobby im reluctant to sell and start again. opinions comments suggestions criticisms welcome. sorry 2 pics same board Regards Alan
Looks like a good soloution to the size issue only loosing 4foot or so from 20+ still gives a fair bit of running room. Just means slightly shorter trains I guess. The biggest plus you still have a layout to run your trains on. More photos Alan
smr chris, thanks for your reply and the comments within. I have given it some thought and I think the trains can stay at 6 cars long with the pullman staying at 8.when the alterations are done i will post pics Regards Alan
A bit like yourself Alan, I have several pieces of stock that I wouldn't sell for purely sentimental reasons, so my "fix" is in the 11.5ft I have available to me indoors, is to build several interchangeable layouts, I'm never going to be able to run trains longer than 2 to 3 coaches in 4mm, and frieght only in 7mm, but I can at least finish one (I hope) and start another project in a managable time frame, and possibly easy enough to transport in a estate car. Paul
When me and my ex split up 20 odd years ago, I sold off some of my 00 and a few O gauge locos and stock, it really didn,t do much good and I have always regretted it, slow but sure I have rebuilt my stock back upto what I had before, but not quite, I have made myself a promise that no matter what I will not dispose of any O gauge models ever again and I will only sell my 00 to finance my O scale modelling, so I guess what I am saying is keep your models if you can, I think you will be glad you did down the line(pun intended ). Cheers, Pete.
