    Cheers Toto.
Job has now been handed over to Paul to complete the rest.

The next job for me is to plan the shed build, I’m thinking of using clear Perspex with plasticard over lays and plastic beading for the window frames, due to the large amount of glass on the four sides of the building......more to follow this week hopefully.

Today’s work session involved adding two points to Pauls revised plan.
One will now give him a run around connecting with what will be the loco wash plant siding on the far side of the layout.
The second new siding is at the front of the layout which will be used for oil tanker wagons that supply oil to the shed.

Paul has also in the week revised the rear shed track, removing two sets of double point work to give a more un-cluttered look and remove the issue of loco overhang fowling the works platforms in the shed as they negotiated the tight point work.

not shown in picture here as I forgot to take any. The shed walls have been cut out from 3mm clear plastic sheeting and the mock up attached to the rear. This will now be detailed with plasticard sheets and rods......I will post up pictures as and when this is started. In the mean time Paul will hopefully get the rest of the concrete pads secured down, build the rest of the staircases and complete the hand rails......no pressure Paul ! :avatar::thumbs:

Entrance to shed sidings now looks like this......

front view showing centre two lines are now pointwork free, tanker siding on right hand side (occupied with cats and dogs at the moment) and the wash plant siding on the left which will now easily accommodate 3 large diesels behind the walk way.

    platforms not glued in yet

looking back along the mainline pointwork out to the head shunt

    good mornings work Paul

Work day at Pauls today, no 1 job, turn the layout around, easy, except the garage floor has a 40MM slope so a combination of some packing and 10mm off a couple of the legs and then a final check with the laser level, job done

front concrete work has been completed by Paul, rear is prepared and hopefully will be completed soon. More discussions re the shed interior, platform height, steps etc. Then a running session with the Skinhead

    Overall shots in new position

the reason for the change is due to the way this layout will connect to phase two of Pauls grand plan. There will be a double main line around the garage with a spur coming off and descending down to the TMD. More of this plan later as there is still a long way to go with this phase.

In the mean time Paul has commenced the scratch build of the shed using my drawing of the shed walls as a template which has been fixed to the back of a clear Perspex sheet. TheN using 1mm square rod and MEK, he has start the first side wall.

lots of gluing to do over the next few weeks....I will keep you all posted.

Cheers Toto, I’m sure Paul will read your comments as well

I’m really looking forward to seeing Paul progress with the shed, apart from the brickwork sheets that are some where between the UK and WA, he has all the plasticard struts, he might need a sheet of 1.5mm as well but I might have some in stock some where.

Today’s work session sorted out how the main structure will be built and we have decided to construct the main arches from 9mm wood which will be fun to cut out. This will allow us to screw the sides to these arches and form a secure “box” to add all the further roof detailing including down lights and a representation of the girders carrying the hoist used to lift out engines.
So as you can see Paul has been very busy, concrete now all glued down, both sides have had all the windows formed except for one panel. Not shown here but he has also cut the central access holes in the platform tops, used by staff To save their poor feet from having to walk to either end to descend into the pit. Platforms have also been painted white on the underside and the tops, been painted in a drab green with white edges. All the steps are form, I , apparently have to finish the handrails, cheers a Paul !, and the platform supports have all been painted.
We added three panels of brickwork at the bottom of the panels as well, looking good a Paul, great effort .

Cheers Toto, mostly Pauls efforts with a bit of guidance from me and Ralph. He’s certainly on a steep learning curve and his new saying is “I was only expecting a Heljan shed”

‘thanks Andy. It was a good “sort out “ day as we have tried out a theory of using the signage board, which has proved to flimsy, but not wasted as we now have a template to work with for the woodwork department ( :scratchchin: ...me) to cut them all (5 in total) > We then recon that once it’s all screwed together it will form a solid “box” which can be handled in all positions to be able to add all the roof detailing and lights.

Popped into Pauls today after selecting a nice sheet of marine ply from our favourite shop (Bunnings), cut and shaped all 5 sections in one go, just need to be sanded and a few bits need some filler. Here’s the first one posed. 9mm thick so we will have plenty of thickness to screw a small screw through the clear plastic sides into the arch, final fix will probably have a bead of hot glue to make sure it all stays together......Paul has lots to do over this next week.....
