Happened to be on holiday in Scotland last week, and came across the Strathspey railway in Aviemore. Whilst I was grabbing a "Subway" sarnie near the station, this Ivatt Class 2 came in.

We were staying in Relugas, about 12 miles below Nairn, so a fair way from your area, but did quite a bit of travelling around. Over and around Skye on one day (my favourite place is Staffin), Cape Wrath/Smoo beach and cave the next, took in the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel (Built in Derbyshire by Butterley Engineering, just down the road from us), on the way home, covering about 2000 miles in the week. I may be old, but I don't stand still for long!:avatar:

Wish I'd known. In my defence, 'yer 'onour, I did mention to Tom in a PM, that I would be up there for the Bank Holiday week, but that was some months ago. Unless I write things down, I forget, and I'm retired without having to think about work, so anyone still working has a better excuse than me! As you said, maybe next time, which could well be next year, as we do enjoy holidaying in Scotland........this year we even had great weather and no midges!.....Bonus!

    Hi Toto.
Yes, I was in both Nairn and Keith a couple of times during the week! Not working on any of those dozens of wind farms going up all over Scotland are you??? We've got quite a few of the 'Solar farms' around us, one only half a mile from us at the farm we live on the lane up to. At least the solar farms are quiet, first wind turbine we came up to on the Western Isles 18 months ago made a horrendous noise.....not what you'd like to live near!
    Keith.

    Hi Keith,

There is a new Convertor station being built in Blackhillock about three miles outside Keith. It will eventually harness all these wind stations you talk about.

I'm working on that project and more specifically the land cabling element of it. I had been on the Convertor station itself for a short stretch.

It is a shame that we need these things but need them we do. The alternative .......... Who switched the lights off. :avatar:

Gutted that you were so close and I didn't meet up with you. I am staying in the Royal Hotel in Keith at the moment.

One day kind Sir ..... We'll have a beer.

    Toto
