New to the group so bare with me while l try to download various pictures and track plan. Layout was inspired by the old M&GN but is a fictional link to the GE via the Downham Market route The layout is about 30ft by 14ft in our converted loft. Time is my enemy so some short cuts have been made with track which is a mix of peco, c&l and copper clad points with c&l flexi track. The plan is to have working signals and ground disc's, l would like to have some form of interlocking but again time and ability preclude this. This being primarily a one man build. Stock is mostly kit built but one or two rtr items have crept in. Coaches are an area of weekness and eagerly await the Ellis Clark thompsons. I am in the process of building the station building, a kit bash of two laser cut models from Lcut creative. Basic but a good starting point and again a time saver and l think once painted etc look rather good. The weighbridge office is by Intentio and very nice too. The goods shed also has a rail weighbridge by Intentio. So progress is slow but l hope steady. Pictures to follow. Steve
Hi Gunner, I like the LCut creative stuff as well. What are you using to paint it ? I've been using Colron wood dye. I like the avatar. I have one of these laid back golden fluff balls as well. Welcome aboard. Toto
Yes, Hugo, a right wus! The station was done in oil pastels! Just thought I would give it a go, takes about a fortnight to dry! The goods shed was done with artist acrylics, several layers.
Nice work on those Intentio kits and nice kit bash of the L-Cut kits. The brick work looks great. I have used the L-Cut kits (coal merchants hut and coal staithes), or more so the individual sections to create an abattoir. Cheers, Gary.
Beautiful work Gunner, nice to see the detailed interior on the goods shed mate, really inspirational!! Cheers, Pete.
You know what Gunner ... that diorama scene is top of the tree material, as you may know from my bridge diorama of last year I'm a pendant for detail and your M&GN layout scene will take some beating as it has atmosphere, soul and character, qualities which are not the easiest to capture in a model. It looks perfectly natural.
Thanks Paul, l'm glad you liked it, l do like setting little scenes when l'm not able to model. Another couple, and this has prompted me to complete the brick wall behind the wagons.
Progress has slowed somewhat but added a brick wall to the back siding (which is the front of the layout). The corner baseboards are being built by a friend of mine which will mean the platforms can be completed. It will be nice to get the circuit completed.
Excelent work there, really good. Is this 0 gauge or 00? I paid a visit to Downham market last Sunday as my boy wants to practice his driving (Learner).
Glad you like the photos, layout is 0 gauge about 30ft long and 14ft wide. I'm just about to lay track for the fiddle yard. We here in france look likely to lockdown again for 4 weeks so that should keep me busy.
