    Hi Steve
    Another masterpiece in the making. The old running out of ballast is one of my favourite tricks, it always looks like you have more in the container. Approach the layout and it immediately vanishes.

    I just love that opening shot of King Edward II. The chalk numbering on the smokebox door works well too. Any chance of a few Black and Whites.

    The only thing that stops these looking real is the over scale shadow in the strong sun.

    I had a walk along the sea wall yesterday to get some inspiration, back home now and back to the layout, all of the stone wall has been glued in place this evening and the first ferns have sprouted up

    So evocative of childhood holidays - I remember playing on the beach at Dawlish, and each time I heard the train approaching, I was compelled to turn and watch it until it was out of sight. Great memories, thanks!

    Finished up the coping stones on the smugglers retreat section and the spear top fencing, well two more panels to go in once the tunnel mouth has arrived!

    First completed tunnel mouth in place ( inner walls still to do) and the first section of coping stones in place, I will
    Add a short section of spear top fencing just to stop any would be beach goers from trespassing on the railway.

    This series of scenes you are creating is one of those layouts that takes me right back to childhood. I am constantly looking forward to the next update. Will you be joining them together ?

    Yes they all bolt together to form one continuous layout.
    The plan is to then add curves plus a rear fiddle yard.

    This layout was sold and is now available for sale again as the current owner hasn't the room any more. Ill keepThis thread going for a new customer commission I’ll be starting soon but more about that later.
