The Stony Point line.

Well hear we go hopefully there will be a picture of what started this journey off. I bought this train set (R4D) when I Was 16, I am now 62. As you can see from the photo I have bought some wood. This is to make a plank layout to get me started, as suggested by Paul. Thanks. Hopefully this will be incorporated into the final layout. I have already spent a year thinking and planning the final layout. The plan is to model my local branch line, which will run off a double track main line. Because I am at the very low end budget wise, the locos will be whatever I can Buy with the money I have, so although the layout will be based on an Australian railway most of the locos and rolling stock will be British. So the journey begins.

I know some of you won't find this exciting, but to me, it's a wonderful gift. A friend of mine kindly donated these locos and rolling stock to me. The Hornby train set was won by him in a colouring competition, when he was young. On the Marty the monster show, for all those that live in Australia might remember.

Thanks Gary, I remember that clip very funny🤓 Richard the track and points in that set are cactus. Very old, it's not super 4 but if it was any good I could have used it. I have some new and some really good secondhand points and track.

Hi Scottystitch, this was an Australian release, with Transcontinental Railways on the side. However they used the same mould for a variety of coaches. Silver , red etc. There is a great source of info on you tube. Check out John's Amazing Trains. Mainly Triang .

This 03 shunter was purchased from eBay with 3 other locos, at a very cheap price. When the parcel arrived, there was an extra Bachmann rolling chassis for the 03 shunter, with a note from the buyer explaining that is was not happy with the running condition of the replica railway 03 shunter. As many of you know these shunters are notoriously problematic. So after about six months of fiddling about, I have finally got it running again. It's not perfect, but good enough for me. It was a long and difficult learning curve, but I gained a lot of satisfaction out of it. I recommend to anyone who has got a broken down loco, pull it to bits and have a go at repairing it.
And yes I'm 63 and still play with trains on the floor. Wish I would hurry up and build that shed
