Thanks Richard. I am currently building a few K wagon kits, along with the odd HGM/HGX.

    Cheers, Gary.

That should look good printed as one piece Gary
Would have been good to do it for my layout but bit hard finding a Rockie Mountain scene to photograph in Australia.
I guess I could have lifted a couple of photos from the net but they are rarely high enough quality esp panoramic ones

The late afternoon sun is good for photos 48 looks good on the layout.

    Re our operating
I think your right Gary the way you and I operate our layouts is the right way to go at shows, as we can be right there with the viewers to answer questions there’s no barriers between us and visitors so conversations are easy, your not talking over the layout all the time so it’s more personal as well.

There are only a couple of layouts on the show scene that do it this way down under.

Hi mate, can I suggest you use pre-mixed wall paper overlap adhesive for the backscene? The water in wallpaper paste may cause the paper to blister. I know the bubbles can be pricked and smoothed out but when I used overlap adhesive on Lockoford's back scene it dried flat and quite quickly also.

    Cheer's, Pete.

Thanks for the tip regarding the pre-mixed paste Pete. I have done a search and I can only fiind the packet of mix and also a light weight mix for light weight paper, hobbies, craft and paper mache.

    Cheers, Gary.

    Thanks Chris,

So far I have three locomotives to run, a 44, 48 & 49. Rolling stock is slowly but surely building up. I'll have to do a count when I get home this afternoon on how many pieces I actually have now !

    Cheers, Gary.

And I could fill the layout up with 80 class locos should the need arise
    Cheers

I could fill in the low numbers with 40, 41, 42 and 43 but it looks like we have more rolling stock than layout?

    Cheers

Got to love the 80’s Tony I think I have enough to fill the length of Gary’s layout as well.
The best thing is that an 80 is now considered as a shunter so perfect use on Gary’s layout in a modern era guise too.

Nothing wrong with a bit of variety Richard it is a three day show after all
The 41 would be a very suitable shunter not sure if the unions would have allowed the 43/42’s down the line with only A end control

I have taken delivery (well, I picked them up) of two of the same images for my back scene which I had printed off...

    BACKSCENE CROPPED.jpg

    At 2.7m long and 26cm high (8'10 1/4" x 10 1/4"), excluding the white border.

I had two printed off, just in case... ;);) If I can get one on the layout perfectly without any hiccups, I'll take the back scene to the exhibition and show it off. There could be some money made by producing these. Maybe the next will have more sky...?? Oh, on my recent trip away, I photographed many more areas of New South Wales... :D

    Cheers, Gary.

The back scene has had it's initial application of sealer, both front and back.

Yes Chris, it has come up pretty good, but when I unrolled the prints yesterday, I noticed that one print had vertical lines throughout it. I'm not happy with this and it will be returned this afternoon for either a refund or for a full reprint.

    Cheers, Gary.

Best of luck getting the second one sorted Gary
Poor form by the printer not checking the print during the process just cost them $$ to rectify

Dropped into the printers this afternoon and they said they would (happily ??) reprint it for me. It will be ready for collection later this afternoon. I still kept the dodgy one regardless.

    Cheers, Gary.

    Excellent Gary.
Just out of interest. How much have they cost to have printed?

To have the two back scenes pics printed cost $60.00 (33.00). Considering they are an odd size (2.7m x 0.26m), that ain't to bad considering back scenes in Australia are reasonably expensive to purchase.

Now, here is what happened tonight...

After taking it back this afternoon, they said they could reprint the image for me and it will be ready by 7pm. I arrived back at the store at 7.15pm and the job was not done.

The staff in the print shop said they can print it out immediately which took around 20 minutes. Print complete but, low and behold, the print was under size by a massive margin, 550mm short length way and 55mm short vertically.:whatever: I had to show them their error. o_O

They began printing another copy and guess what, under size again ! :(

I then explained that they have the original paperwork that I filled out (on Friday afternoon) with all the requirements on it, sitting on the counter.

The third copy they got right, except they incorrectly trimmed one of the edges off, not leaving a 5mm border which is what I requested.

So, I lost over an hour at Officeworks, which could have been better spent. Oh, at least they had the heart to refund the cost of one print for the inconvenience caused. :faint:

Not very happy with the service, the quality control and the inability to get things right.

On the other hand, I did end up walking out with one of the under sized prints as I believe it would look great on an Aussie N scale layout... :scratchchin:

    No, I'm not building a N scale layout !

    Cheers, Gary.

Not so good Gary but at least you got your print and a refund. Just a PITA experience and waste off your time. Looking forward to seeing it in place. I'm sure it will all be worth it.

    Cheers
