    My luck is in.
I ordered a box of 5 x 21 pin decoders from Hattons yesterday morning .......... delivered this orning. What a service. They were accompanied by a class 128 Royal Mail parcels unit as well. A bargain for £59.00
    here is the goods,
    [IMG]

and the parcels unit which will need some heavy weathering.

    some nice detailing included.

    and another,
    [IMG]

    and one more,
    [IMG]

It is a 21 pin decoder job as well so ( more than luck than good judgement ) I'll be able to take this and three class 25's and a heljan class 27 away with me this week and chip them whilst in the hotel at night.
    Great service from hattons.

    cheers

    Hi Paul,
I was not really after one but at the price I thought I'll find a home for it :avatar:
The usual two ton of Heljan muscle behind it.
    cheers

    Ok.
Here is my work bench thread for through the week to keep me busy and moving on. I have decided to use up the five 21 pin decoders that I've just had delivered from Hattons ............ and here is the victims.
first up a pair of Bachmann class 25 / 1's both in BR green with full yellow ends. ( I'll apologise up front for the crappy photo's )

Next up, another Bachmann class 25 but this time a class 25/3 in BR blue with full yellow ends and domino head codes.

and just to add a bit variation ( not that it matters as they all need done at some point ) is my Heljan class 128 in Royal Mail letters livery.
and the last one quivering on its bogies is a Bachmann class 419 Motor Luggage Van in BR blue and grey livery.
I could have taken a few more as I have a couple of class 08's and some Heljan class 27's that all need 8 pin decoders. I have some 8 pin decoders with stay alive but these are a little more involved to fit and require a soldering iron so they will be subject to another batch fitting exercise.
I'll post up a couple of pictures of the loco's in the buff as I do them.
    cheers

I like your new and shiny Heljan 128 parcels it will be an interesting weathering job I think a not long out shopped look as it would be a shame to go overboard with such a striking livery.
Just enough weathering to pop the details out

I'm telling my self I don't need one:avatar: but at that price

Enjoy what's left Of the weekend Tom

    Thanks Chris,

It was a bargain at £59.00 , couldn't pass it by. I agree with the light weathering. I just need to work out how best to go about it.

Paul's idea of using a wash through the details and a light spraying of body dirt seems favourite at the moment . Possibly a bit heavier at the ends as they did tend to get most of the dirt quicker.

I need to look into it further, read a few more books and watch a few more " how to's " in order to get the courage up. I was thinking of buying a few " scrap body shells " from the second Gand stalls to practice on first. Seems like a plan. :avatar:

Cheers for now and likewise ...... Enjoy what's left of the weekend. .......... Although that may be a bit late to say in your time zone :avatar:

    Cheers

    Toto

Thanks Tom weekend done and dusted for us Monday 10am now
I did have a bit of success over the weekend, I had miss placed a loco box with loco in it. A Large one Atlas O scale US Alco RS4/5 I got two a while back to do conversions to Ozzy Locos one had DCC the other was DC converted the DC one then changed to DCC so wanted to swap the boards but couldn't find the loco.
Turns out its box had gone to storage with other empty boxes
So will get another loco on the Roster this week with DCC fitted
 so you could say I'm a happy Chappy to day.

Great stuff. Ending the weekend on a high. :avatar: post up a couple of piccies when you get the chance. I don't get to see much of the American stuff or the Aussie stuff come to think of it.

Paul picked up a couple of crackers at the Dundee show last year. I've hunted the internet trying to find the same one but with no success. I'll see if he can post them up again.

    Cheers

Have to admit that I was also tempted by the class 128 Royal Mail parcels unit, but as it's too late for my modelled era (early 60's) I've resisted, also I already have a Bachmann class 419MLV so can't really justify the 128. I've also got the full set of weathering powders that Toms recently bought, but not used them yet as I'm intending doing a batch of loco's when I get around to it.

    Hi Keith,

Sounds like a plan. Batch weathering. I need the confidence just to risk one at a time. :avatar:not quite the seasoned pro yet.

    Cheers

I thought GWR was blocked by the bad language filter, needs updating, we have junior members and they should not be subjected derogatory terms [IMG] :avatar:

I didnt get the chance to start the decoders tonight as I had a late dinner. The hotel was unusually busy tonight. So much so that I waited about an hour before even having my order taken. ........ then they got it wrong. Never mind ....... I'll probably get them started tomorrow night all going well.
    cheers
