Getting there, I have replaced the great wall of china piccies with gallery photo's, and deleted the same from the other location. Will work my way through the rest. Will then need to work on my end credits for the movies - star wars type theme as our illustrious leader takes on the forces of the evil empire Once he's had his breakfast, that is Attached files
I heard Hattons had called Tom in AS a consultant so he could choose what he wants them making next . . Gotta look after your best customer
Firstly Happy New to everyone, and appologies for not posting recently - Toto's had me locked in a darkroom. So whats happened since the last post - not a lot, however I have started building my signal gantry. I am using a pair of Dapol (ex Kitmaster/Airfix) C017 Signal gantry kits. The gantry will hold the signals for the Parcels siding and four platform departure roads, and will be located on the lift out track section. As these are to be working signals, the heads will need modifying by either drilling out the supplied heads or replacing the heads with Train-Tech heads. The dapol heads were drilled out with a 3mm drill (a pilot hole was drilled first) On the rear side the bottom hole (red) needed the opening out to allow the led to fit. next 3mm LED's were fitted. My latest set of LED's were purchased from Bright Components at a very reasonable cost (£2.29 for 50) Liquid ploy being used to secure them. A coat of black paint and there ready to go. Now a question, the outer tracks are at an angle, would the gantry legs at the outer edges run parallel to the tracks or perpendicular to the gantry Perpendicular to the gantry would be the easiest but parallel to the tracks seems to look better, what do you all think ? Paul
So we come blinking back out into the sunlight, Yes Toto has finally unlocked the door and let us out so we can get stuck in to the modelling !! Cheers Matt
Only for now Matt. saying that, Paul will be glad....... we might just get some buildings for vicky done now. cheers Toto
Bit more work done To allow me to make the outer support stantions parallel(ish) with the tracks, I cut away one side of the bracket. Then glued the gantry cross members into place A lot of fettling left to do but heres a quick preview of where it will go Paul
Hi Paul, Looking really good. The electrics will be interesting. Looking forward to that coming up. Are you doing a " how to " on it ? I know you mentioned that it may not be far off painting. What will come first, painting or electrics or will the painting be a two or three phased affair ? Cheers Toto
Hi Paul, Question, are you going to join all the positive (+) legs together (common) and then wire the negatives (-) seperately ? My old mate Murray used to build his own signals where the actual post (brass) was + and the - wires ran down the inside. Cheers, Gary.
Hi Gary I've got to work out exactly how I'm wiring up the LEDs, I will be using an arduino based accessory decoder, but 5 x 3 aspect = 15 outputs if I wire them up directly as one output per LED. I'm thinking of trying some diode logic to reduce the number of outputs, saying that at £1.70 per arduino, not sure its worth the extra effort. Paul
Right - after taking off my socks, I can now count over ten, on my arduino circuit my available outputs start at D4 to D13 (total of 10 digital outs), plus there are analog outs as well A0 to A7 (total of 8 analog outs). I will need to verify all are available to use, but that should give me the 15 outputs I need for the gantry... whoo hoo Paul
Possibly....... I'll probably use the digital outs for the green and red, and analog for the amber, not that I can see me ever using the amber, as if I release anything from the platforms, with a red before the traverser, the layout will be blocked....... Paul
