On my 'plonk' I've got a small pond and wanted to create a 'water effect" but as well as being hard to find a full tin of gloss varnish would have been a waste. I tried pva glue but for one reason or another it wouldn't dry clear so I borrowed a small amount of 'clear nail lacquer' from the other 5/8ths and bingo (it cost her €1 and there's plenty). Ian
OK Ian, so now that you have done your nails, how may one ask are you going to resolve you 'water effect' problem. This will come in handy for when I make my road, as to be realistic the road will have a lot of pot holes in it. I have watched Martin T's video about water and any large amounts will be done like that but it sounds like you have a way for puddles.
Hi Tany lets be clear on this I'm not advocating 'you' should go near your other 5/8ths war paint ... you put us in danger last time! However once the pothole/puddle has been dug or painted you just paint it with the lacquer. Another tip I've used for wet surfaces is 'superglue' it works very well on metcalfe cobble/tarmac road card just poured from the tube. Sorry the Image is not the best. Attached files

Very effective Ian, and as I have some acetone in the "cave" it shouldn't smell any different than normal - some may say its an improvement. Paul
Ian You've got the approach wrong, you have to start drinking Vino Tinto, untill you meet yourself in the middle, then the rest of the way down is known territory. Paul
I think your right Paul but for the sake of research and at great sacrifice I'll put it to the test. Ian
