Mossy and a warm from Dundee Lookingrward to hearing about yourself and your modelling adventures Once again welcome to the forum Paul
Hi Kimbo and all. I found this website by clicking on a link from one of the supplier websites - which one not a clue!. I saved the link and while "working from home" cough cough yesterday decided to have a browse. I wanted to look at some of the track plans, and found I needed to sign up hence my registration. I'm a Yorkie through and through, as everyone knows, short arms long pockets and always opinionated and right, or at least that's how most of the country thinks of us. Interests, O gauge North Eastern Railway 1890 - grouping though mainly the Worsdell years 1890-1910. Current projects: A 2-4-0 G1 a secondary line loco nick named Waterburys (after a cheap reliable watch of that era). An etching only kit and proving to be a bit of a trail. Currently set aside for the two below, which are a bit of light relief. A V2 Brake, same supplier as the G1, but much less of a trial, close to being finished. A Dia 196 Horsebox, D&S kit. The etch was almost a work of art itself and it seemed a crime to chop it up into the constituent parts. A lovely kit which I am thoroughly enjoying, about half done. As for a layout, that's still in my head, hence wanting to look at other peoples ideas. When i finally start it it will be built using C&L components with all turnout either B6 or B7. I have a space roughly 20ft x 2ft to fit it in, imperial measurements, that give my age away. Bye for now Mossy
Hi Mossy from sunny Spain .. interesting intro i guess you'll be posting piccies next ..(no pressure) glad to have you with us Ian vt
First time anyones seen any of my work warts and all but here goes V2 Brake - seriously obscure, there is only one known picture of a V2, but a reasonable amount of documentary evidence. The kit is based on a drawing by Richard Lacey which was in a NER Record a number of years ago, so is all a bit conjectural. Currently fabricating the brake yokes, cross shaft etc as the kit doesn't come with any. Left to do: Fabricate a chimney (again doesn't come with one). Axleboxs/spring Footboards Buffers Coupling Hooks
G1 Loco originally 2-4-0's, rebuilt as 4-4-0's about 10 years later. Class of 20 loco's in total, just made it into LNER days but scrapped in the 1930's. Tender doesn't come with brake gear, so internal chassis is currently being extended so brake gear can be fitted. Loco, all bits (boiler, dome etc) are just posed. Brake gear is next on fabrication list as I had to get some missing parts from Dave Hill of Gladiator, really nice and helpful guy and parts weren't expensive. Once brakes are sorted it's on to motor et al, then all cab details before final assembly.
Hi Mossy , great to see you posting up your work. I would be very interested to see the horse box build when you get chance. Your builds look very good, the loco looks an interesting build. Kim
Kim, The loco is an absolute *&%$!"£, that's why I have the brake and the horse box on the go - both are light relief and save me from throwing the G1 out the window. I could catalog all the problems but it would just bring on more nightmares. The Horsebox isn't fit to be seen just yet its basically a half complete chassis, but when progress is done I will post some pics. Mossy
Your work looks good .... warts an all .... it's how we like it. Very few builds are pristine from start to finish. They all have a story to tell at some point ......... before the big clean up when complete. Great stuff, thanks for posting these up and I look forward to more. Cheers Toto
and to the forum Mossy from East Yorkshire where I too have short arms and long pockets great to have you here and nice work btw. cheers Yorkie
Hi Paal, I'm based in Leeds but in reality I'm from Guisborough in the ancient district of Cleveland - hence the NER interest. I was brought up 50 yards from the Middlesbrough- Guisborough Branch, which was one of the victims of Beaching.
Short arms and long pockets ..... ..... like it. I'm a scotsman who are reputed to attach their bank notes to elastic bands ..... cant think why. Toto
