It is possible we have met somewhere before but not sure. Regards, Gloria.
Hi Andy, Are you staying at the holiday park, which is 4 miles from where I live. Regards, Gloria. Pity you are not here this week- End as we are attending a rally at Grade Ryan Ryan Minor with our portable garden railway. Regards, Gloria.
No, we’re staying bridgewater Sunday night (travel lodge) and the coming up Monday. We are indeed at the holiday park. I last stayed in the area at newquay in around 1991/92 and my wife and kids have never been Cornwall (although the wife thought she had been to Newquay as a kid, till the mother in law corrected her and said she had, but She’d apparently booked for Cornwall but got the wires crossed and ended up in New Quay in Wales...! ) Looking forward to it Andy
Hi Andy, Thank you for your reply, Hope you enjoy your stay in Cornwall and that you have some decent weather,as it can change very quickly down here. There are some decent beaches in the area but be careful as it can be a very dangerous coast. If you are at a lose end please get in touch. Regards, Gloria
Hi PurpleBob, I am not sure if you received my earlier reply, I can't remember what I wrote now as my tablet went offline. Please accept my apology. Regards, Gloria.
Ah. Mullion Cove. Went there last night. Followed by some lighthouse?? It was throwing it down at the time. Monday when we arrived we went to a Kynance Cove. Beautiful... And yesterday we went here... But I really wanted to find out more about RAF Pendarreck? (Is that correct?) there was some info about it at Flambards as where Sir barnes Wallis developed the swing wing aircraft. Just got back after 11 1/2 hrs drive!
Nearly right Andy... It's RNAS Predannack Airfield. It was the main Airfield on the Lizard during WWII then they built RNAS Culdrose and it is now used as the emergency landing field for that. The Navy also use it for fire training. There's a lot of retired derelict aircraft on there, including helicopters and harriers that are used for practicing fire emergencies. The Navy don't use it most of the time and there's a local model flying club that uses the runways a lot of the time. It's not really closed off like most MOD Properties, and a lot of the locals walk their dogs on there too. As well as take a lot of photographs of the scrap aircraft. If you have a hunt round the web you'll find quite a lot of them. Best Regards, Purple Bob.
Hi Andy, Predannick is also used by local Sea Cadets for training purposes when stationed at Culdrose. I live roughly a mile away from there. I am ex navy myself. Hope you are enjoying your holiday despite the weather Andy seems August does change weatherwise happens nearly every year when schools are on holiday. Next week supposed to get better but will have to wait and see on that one as we have a Rally to attend at Stithians Showground. Regards, Gloria.
Came Home yesterday (now back at work boo hiss!!) after 11 and half hour drive. A30 and M5 nightmares.
Ah, wish I had known. Managed to see a White Sea king from the Kynance Car Park with the binoculars. See on google there are some Canberra’s up there too. Found in most interesting about the swing wing as I’m a big dambusters follower so to hear it was Barnes Wallis up there was interesting!
Hi Andy heard on the news about holdup on A30 and M5 Fridays is nightmare day to travel especially day time. We try and leave early hours of the morning or overnight found it much better and quicker.Except for diversions if any on M5 Worcester Area. Glad you got home safe and sound though after an epic journey. Regards, Gloria
