I'm looking to find out what to use for my 462 tank. I suspect another Zen Buddha is the order of the day but can anyone comment with a bit more certainty. I now have two to do as I have just acquired another in LMS livery from flea bay. Make that two decoders then.
Toto if the motor is like any of the other Bachmann produced O scale locos won't need a real big decoder you will probably get away with any of the quality decoders on the market As long as it is say 2amp peak you shouldn't have a problem It will be a hard wire as as far as I'm aware no Bachmann O was made with DCC in mined. The Zen Buda. Will certainty be more than enough capacity for the 2-6-4 tank I have several O scale locos with the basic TCS T1 decoder in its 1.3 constant 2amp peak and haven't killed one yet. Most of my big O scale steam locos have TCS wow decoders and even pulling quite large trains they Handel the current draw OK with out any issues they are 2 amp peak. Ps congrats on getting a second 2-6-4 tank
Hi Chris, thanks for that. I take it if I put the Buddah in it would not do it any harm ? I'd rather go the extra mile if its safe to do so. The second Pannier is an LMS liveried version and it looks a beauty. At least the condition as stated on the bay said excellent condition with just a clean to rid it of dust as it had been laying for a while. I did not bother with them in OO scale but when you see them in O Gauge ....... wow. they look terrific. I'll get a photo or 5 posted when it arrives. ( middle to end of next week ). cheers toto
That right Toto the Zen Buda will be well under stressed so if it fits in a good choice. Looking forward to seeing the new LMS one.
2 x Zen Buddah 4 function 3 amp ( 5 amp peak ) decoders ordered from Peters spares. Should be interesting hard wiring these in on the two 4 6 2's when they arrive. I'll post up some pictures of the install when the time comes. Cheers Toto
They are a easy hard wire the two wires that went to the motor now go too the track +/- on the decoder and the motor one from the decoder straight to the motor. Hardest part will be where you mount the decoder and getting the wires the right length 3M double sided tape may be your best friend with the install for the decoder mounting. http://www.click
Hopefully it will be in as good condition as the first. It's in LMS but that could always change if necessary. Cheers Toto
And here they are ......... Zen Buddahs. Just awaiting my other 2 - 6 - 4 which is estimated for arrival either tomorrow or Thursday. Could be getting done this weekend then. cheers toto
