In posting what I have so far it has caused me to do a count that has resulted in me now knowing I have some 55 buildings to either start, get beyond the computer stage or just finish the roof.
Having seen the date on some of the photos and the fact that they still look the same 3 or 4 years later is a worry.
I need to get on with it I think, between that and the fact I am still faffing around with trackwork in a few places it's probably a good thing I don't work anymore ( some would say I couldn't have worked any less! )
Perhaps I shouldn't spend too much time trying to find a suitable photo of a Bendix Washing m/c from circa 1948 or worrying about the exact number of brickwork courses on a building that is 200 scale yards away! As my mother kept saying " a man on a galloping horse wouldn't see it" Maybe not ,but I know it and thereby hangs the problem.
In the mean time do I start more or finish some or just worry about that question?

    Hi Katwigan,

Congratulations on POTW. A very impressive layout in progress and a pleasure to follow. These buildings are quite spectacular.

Congrats on pick of the week, certainly not a project for the faint hearted, I know how long it took me to make the small number of buildings for Victoria Road, this is another level entirely :tophat:

You've already earned it. Some very ingenious ideas on your buildings. The layout is very impressive as well with operating potential in abundance.

    Excellent.

Thank you all again for the comments, likes, support et al. It has certainly inspired further activity from my point of view.
Something I have been intending to do / start for some considerable time has been the backscene base. My intention was to have grey stormy skies rather more fitting the area than blue cloudless skies ( except for recent events I would think) Anyway, a couple of pics comparing before and after shots in the Colliery corner area.
First up the 'bare' corner area, before and after.

    Woods Engineering right next door.

( Sorry about the fuzzy photo, not sure as to cause )

    20180729_164946mod.jpg

A longer distance shot of the corner, please note Anything below layout level in this shot belongs to my wife Deb, come to that about 75% of anything under the layout does, must have a chat about that that I think ( obviously feeling better and certainly braver.:lol:

( Oh and so is the Welsh reference.)
The next steps from here with it is to work out what needs adding in relevant spots ie distant hills, roof lines etc.
    Stay Tuned

    Hello all,
What a week, between appt's and the weather etc I wasn't sure if I was coming or going, anyway did manage to add a bit of highlighting to the sky, although it doesn't show up much in any of the photos I took afterwards. Did redo a couple of existing building shells that I first started 5 or 6 years ago though. These are both just 2D fronts at this stage but I will add two or three layers to them including the bay windows etc.
    20180811_111514.jpg
The area between the two in the shot above will be filled in with a section of the Parish Church gardens with the church midway between the two on the backscene (covering some of the sky)
A couple of closer shots of each. Firstly the "Conservative Club".
    cons club 2.jpg

    cons club 1.jpg

and the old " Law Courts"
    Law court 2.jpg
    law court.jpg

I went outside a little while ago to look at the current grey skies but it was raining so hard I couldn't see the sky anyway. It was so cold it's a wonder it wasn't snow!

I really must dig out my camera instead of using the phone the photos are not the clearest now I look at them again, sorry.
I seem to be bouncing from one thing to another at the moment, I am! The intention is to get as many base shells done to get an overall feel for the outcome rather than have one finished building in the middle of nothing else.
So please bare with me, things and or my madness will be come clear in the course of time.

Thank you Kim and other 'Likers',
I decided to try filling in the gap between the two buildings shown above which involves grass, trees and a hedge to produce the bottom end of the parish Church Gardens. So a couple of in progress pics.

    church gardens longshot.jpg

    church gardens.jpg

Again the stone wall is produced from photos of the actual wall, still need to fit the top header stones and the steps through the entrance arch

A long shot from past the Conservative club end.
    cons club and gardens.jpg
That still has to have the '3d' levels attached, ie Bay windows etc.
And a view from the Law Courts end.
    law court and gardens.jpg
Same with the Law Courts 3d,
Also have to figure out the paved pathways through the garden lawns.
Have been experimenting with producing the hedges from pan scourers and green scatter material, will post them shortly.
( Domestic activity has stopped play currently, mumble mumble!)

Hi, a couple of photos to show the results of growing the hedge also managed to fit the top row of stones to the wall.( what is their official name ?)
    IMG_20180824_50431.jpg

Hmm doesnt seem to want to work via my tablet, will try again from the pc when i get home. EDIT:Ignore that as once i logged in (again?) It seemed happy to work.
    IMG_20180824_2119.jpg

Anyway still have to figure out how to do the circular set of flags in the grassed area. May end up cutting a load of individual ones and laying them that way.
    We will see

    Coping stones, I think.
The circle of flagstones would probably look better laid individually as per the real thing in my opinion mate.

Coping stones it is Pete, because the nearest you can get is about 3' away from the paths I experimented with various methods none of which looked much better, worse or different to any of the others. So at the moment it looks like this.

    IMGP1342.JPG
I am currently waiting on delivery of a couple of ladies pushing 'proper prams' ( as mi mum said, they af fot be proper prams!)

    IMGP1343.JPG
Just need to plant another couple of similar sized and a larger tree now before trying to blend a photo of the church into the background.
    Stay tuned for that one.

    Cheers
    Kev
