Having reeled from the discovery of the washout plug mistake which I put down to experience and also some not too well worded instructions I thought I'd take a few posing shots in true Platform 1 tradition.

So 70010 Owen Glendower eases over the level crossing on Elton Crossing Road... yes the road really does exist... Google it on mas but it doesn't look like this anymore sadly, however my model does capture the spirit of what used to be... or at least will if I ever finish it.

here's another side on view just for fun, thanks for following and I hope you have enjoyed the pictures. Lots more plumbing to go on yet but not so difficult stuff from what I can see. Sandboxes, lubricators and whistle along with the other side water feed pipe and handrails yet to go on but at least its getting there.

    Thanks for following.

That's looking great. Gives me lots of inspiration for the rebuilt Bulleid I am doing.

Gee thanks Paul ... I think locos this size take a while to build and for ages it looks like nothing much happens then all of a sudden it comes together... best not talk too soon as I've got the motion to do next.:scratchchin:

Anyway how is your build coming along... I'm highly tempted to pick the phone up and ask Mr Scorpio for a rebuilt Merchant Navy kit, I think there is something very elegant about them.

I agree on the Merchant Navy. I am normally into eastern region locos but there's something about those Bulleids.

I got a little carried away with the bulleid and forgot to take photographs. i have the basic loco frames assembled plus the running plate and firebox (which turned out easier than anticipated.

I will take some photos when i get some time but modelling has gone on the back burner for a week or two

Look what someone whilst having lunch did to Owen Glendower, I do wish some folk wouldn't be so disrespectful. :avatar:

Only a couple more lost wax castings to install, namely the whistle and a water sieve box (or at least I think that's what it is) then the final few wire plumbing. I'll sort that tomorrow then try and make sense identifying all the white metal pipes and injector valves which are next to go on, then that is the body complete apart from installing the reverser and backhead which will be fitted after painting.

Lots of solder clean up to do as well.

Because the sun shone brightly today I took a couple of posing pictures for a bit of light reflection. Next week serious work starts on the chassis again with the goal of finishing the motion.

    Looks good.
I nearly built one of the original kits a few years ago, but I swapped it to finance a ticket to Chile. Maybe one day.

Fortunately my wife also likes to travel too. Trouble is we need to come to the UK so Europe is travelled more than around south America.

Thanks Peter, this is a Scorpio Kit and does go together really well, plenty of instructions with pictures and line drawings but some build aspects are a tad ambiguous, otherwise a very satisfying one to make.

Today I have mostly been bending and shaping the pipework around the firebox on the other side, I did away with the smaller whitemetal pipework replacing it with brass or nickel wire, all the cast unions and injectors were drilled out to accept the wire pipes which I gently soldered together. Still more to do though, there are a few small pipes around the whistle and the linkage through the handrail to go on yet along with injector pipework on the other side still to do... but for now I've had enough.

There is the usual solder cleaning up to be done yet once the remaining stuff is fitted in place along with some stopper to flatten out the firebox front casting joints, otherwise after a few good washing down sessions with Bar Keepers Friend and hot water the body will be ready for a coat of primer. I'll fit the backhead afterwards once its been detailed. So onwards and upwards next area to work on will be the motion and valve gear and the main chassis detailing.

After all the detailing on the body, hopefully the motion should be a relaxing assembly :whatever:;)

With luck and some energy :giggle: the motion and valve assembly will start soon... I have a bag full of already laminated bits laughing at me on the bench every time I go in the workshop. I'll teach them to play ball. :avatar:
