Don't know if this will help anybody and you may already know this, but to find all the threads you started, click in the search box on the home page

place the mouse pointer over the down arrow to the right of 'More' and you get a drop down list

    Click on 'Your Threads'

and you get a list of the threads you started.

    Thanks Ed

Following through, I clicked on the top "Useful Search" : "Recent Posts", and found that it has all recent posts back to late January, 153 in all.
Now if you select "New Posts" from the top left of the home page there are only 104 posts in this listing, going back to the same date :scratchchin:

The other useful thing I found was that in both these listings, if you hover the cursor over a post with multiple pages, the last (up to three) pages are shown, which doesn't happen on the home page. While my cursor isn't visible in the following image, I've added an arrow as a replacement. Proof of the pudding - there are no pages shown on the other multi-page post "On30" at the bottom . . .

Edit : Just noticed that these two post lists also have the correct avatar and name for the member who started the thread.

A voyage of discovery. :avatar: It just needs a bit of time and practice. Thanks to all for posting their findings. As Paul said, we'll round up some of the tips and get them under a how to thread.

It's a repeat of what happened when we first started off on our original software and we got there ....... Eventually.

Thanks for your patience and Positive participation.

While I appreciate the getting together of a how to file and yes I have said this time and time again on previous posts, I am at a loss to understand why we moved to a new platform without any assessment of what we have compared to what we will get?

As a matter of priority, we must get private messages back on track ASAP. As well as the history of what we have already conversed with ptrivately between ourselves. It is probably the main byproduct of being associated with PFM1 that we share our achievements among all members but create those private sub cells where we can organise to meet with each other and help as necessary. Although a reasonably new member, I have well and truly enjoyed the comments and advice from those more talented than I. I have learnt a lot and enjoyed it all.
I have now lost all record of the private conversations I have held with many members. This has included involvement with the forthcoming Rosehill Show where I had agreed to participate, other arrangements to fix loco problems, etc. I have no record of how to contact those helpful members, particularly the Aussie based ones and have no intention of broadcasting my personal contact details here. All that info was safely stored on the old messaging facility.

    Can anyone out there help?

    Richard

    Not a happy modeller

As far as I understand, PMs under this forum are called conversations.

You can start a conversation by clicking another members avatar

or, click on 'Inbox' on the right of the menu bar

if you start typing a members name, you will get a list of members and can select who you want

    Haven't tried this yet.

I may be wrong (often am), but I don't think any PMs from the old forum have been transferred over.

As I said quite clearly, I have tried it as have others and it does not darn well work. Will those who were responsible for this transition please respond to mt observations. I was under the impression that the transition was being under the control of someone who knew what trhey were doing. Obviously I was mistaken; Do you need help? Will those responsible actually read these posts?

I sent you a test message yesterday, I'm guessing you didn't get it?

    Pete.

I have just checked my started conversations file and there is no record of the message I sent to Davoetype? Pete.

And I just sent one to Ed. And I will agree with Richards's comment - all the previous PM's should have come across with all the other data. Can we as members assume that the original data including PM's is still available and transferred properly ?
