Apparently, Zimo sound chips sometimes freeze. I lost all sound functions on my O gauge Heljan 56 causing me to do a factory re-set ( CV8 - 8 ) Now I have no cab lights and the fans make my 56 think it is a helicopter!. The 56 was bought new this year along with a chip and stored in a wooden box which I keep indoors. I knew things weren`t right, when pressing function button 1 the lights went out and no sound. The loco operated . I am waiting on Yoochoos to reveal the solution. Tony.
John at Youchoos has provided me with the solution, I must change 8 CV`s . Having done that, the fans are still too fast , the cab lights now work but, there is still the rail echo which was assigned to function 11 before being replaced for the cab illumination. I hope a further phone call will sort this out. Tony.
A phone call to Youchoos revealed I need to change 2 more CV`s , one to turn off the rail echo sound and keep the cab lights on and the other to slow the fans which it didn`t no matter how much I altered it. A firmware update maybe required if the sound fails to work again. Tony
