I'll be altering Sheringbourne from an end to end to a single track roundy-roundy layout. Starting at the Holt station end (which has now gone!), across the front of the shed, a bridge of sorts across the doorway then removing the level-crossing at the station end join up under a bridge with original tracks through the station. (In theory!!) Final image shows the shed front where I'll build a narrow single track board towards the door. More to follow Ron
and he's off ....... don't know if would install some insulation before blocking access with the layout - you know to stop the beer getting too cold. Paul
Fully insulate for your cold feet and warm beer and a place for your locos to stretch their legs ! Couldn't get any better !! Cheers, Gary.
A bit more done today, brackets put up along the shed front to the 2nd door. Going to use 4" x !" planed timber with a batten strengthener.
More done today, got the wood and secured on the brackets. All lined up now ready to paint later this week. Might even get a passing loop !! This is the easy side, look whats got to be moved/got rid of on the other side!!
I spy with my little eye... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..., a grey and black O gauge 7 plank wagon on the book shelf...! ..., the lure is strong ! Cheers, Gary.
Got Peco Setrack curves today, laid and soldered to the buses! Tested all the rolling stock and all OK so far! But what sort of scenery ?? A covered over tunnel?? Comments please...
The space to the ends of the sidings is too short for a cliff or retaining wall or embankment for a tunnel, just put a cliff face or retaining wall on the far side of the curve.
Personally, I would chop a few chunks out of the plank and replace with a girder bridge or two (but then I am bridge mad)
As for scenery on this section, that all depends if the fiddle yard tracks will be part of the scenic section... Perhaps you could remove the inner most siding and turn the three roads into an inglenook. This could then be sceniced as a coal depot or general freight staging yard. Having the forth siding removed allows more scenery in between the mainline and the sidings. This could include Scalescenes small coal office kitbashed as a yard foreman's office, add some fencing (post & wire) along the mainline a few other items like flood lights etc. As for the corner, some corrugated iron along the mainline and a scrap yard could be modelled in there. Cheers, Gary.
Took your advise Gary and removed the siding and point. Got some more painting to do tonight, dark brown around the tracks..
