Thirty years ago I modelled British outline N gauge. Two daughters born, loss of railway room, end of railway 1. About 5 years ago, a while after I retired (early I tell you, I was still a yoof) I started again, this time in British OO. I was never happy with it in a crowded room (two pianos, a computer desk, a railway desk and a squeezed railway). Visiting grandchildren now need a place to sleep, end of room again, end of railway 2. Now I am starting again, again. This time it is in a new room for railways only. I learned a bit from railway 2, that I want a longish return run and open baseboards allowing some change of elevation. Through Another model railway forum I met Gary, who kindly drew up a track plan for me. I've tried to attach it below. I've now built the baseboards and am starting to work on the track layout. I'm using Gary's station plan with one small change, a bay platform at the top right hand side. I'll have lots of questions to ask as time goes on... Bruce from hot and sweaty Sydney

Welcome Bruce from one Down under to another. I'm just up on the Central Coast NSW Looking forward to watching your new model railway develop. Gary has come up with a great plan for the space could be any period or company it's got good storage plenty you can do with that almost has a Scottish flavour to that station platform Kyle of Lochalsh style, also like the devided scenic's so you can have industrial and a country side the two sided platform almost acts like two stations on a point to point layout .Once you get things started and trains running you will soon see if it suits your needs and do any mods needed before scenic's start. But as it stands looks good. Link to photo of Kyle of Lochalsh https://flic.kr/p/n3T1HB What's your modelling period ? For this project. Do you have a favoured region. Will lookout for you at an exhibition in Sydney. http://www.click And
Welcome from Dundee, where the sun and snow try to make an appearence. Enjoy the madhouse, where the banter freely flows, and even a bit of modelling happens now and then. Paul
What a friendly bunch you are. Gormo, I now know what you look like! I go to most of the Sydney area exhibitions and will keep my eye out for you. Chris, in the 1970s we lived near Canterbury (Kent) for about a year and I've been attracted to Southern region since then. As for the period, people my age remember steam. I also like British cars of the 1950s, so that gives a period too. (We owned a 1951 Daimler for a while.) I found a track plan of Barnstaple (Victoria Road) which reminds me of Gary's station plan. I like the idea of one side being countryside (which I drove through each day when I worked at Canterbury) and the other side some kind of town/village. It's all driven by nostalgia...
Hi Bruce, Sounds interesting. A trip down memory lane. I am like yourself, I like the old cars as well. They were much more individual in their looks and designs than today's offerings that all look similar. I'll look forward to seeing your layout coming on. Cheers for now Toto
Bruce , good to have you aboard ! That's a good looking plan there, looking forward to see this one develop Cheers Matt
