I've not had much modelling time recently having been sidelined by home decorating projects, not necessarily my favourite pastime, but needs must! As a result, I've not got further with the chassis, but have at least painted and decalled (is that a word???) the body, although as this loco was scrapped around 1959 and my layout is late 50's to end-of-steam, I shall be weathering this loco to it's 'end-of-life' state on completion, though it will be fully functional despite that. This is the body in it's current 'unweathered' state.

Looking good Keith. Is the chassis now back on the bench then. It will be nice to see this running.

After a break of some 9 or 10 weeks due to a home decorating 'Binge', finally I can get back to this project. I need to get a a shift on as I've got the CSP Models 'Hawthorn-Leslie 0-6-2 tank loco to follow, then I'm anticipating having The Connoisseur "02" 0 gauge kit arriving within the next few weeks, so I've been busy completing the brake gear, primer and paint, followed by fitting wheels, axles, jackshaft and conrods, and presently this is where we're at.

You may notice that I'm a conrod retaining nut missing, that's because I've run out of them, one solitary 12BA nut!!!! Grrrrrrrr!

I'll need to order 12BA nuts in as they are something I need from time to time, but it means I can't go any further with the build until I get some. I'll also need to get some 100 degree solder too as I'm almost out of that too, hopefully some supplier somewhere will actually have some, as that'll be needed for the next 2 kits I guess. This view shows the clearance needed between the rods due to the somewhat unusual drive arrangement as the motor and "High Level" gearbox drives the centre driven axle on this model. It does run quite nicely despite being one nut short, but pickups have yet to be wired and loco will of course be DCC.

I walked past the shop last week Andy and He has a mobile number in the window to contact him. I've asked previously about parts and he doesn't seem to keep much in that line, though I did once manage a pair of turned brass diesel horns but these were from a box of bits a pal had passed on to him. I've ordered a pack of 50 nuts so hopefully will get them early next week. I've a couple of MERG 'Servo 4' electronic kits to build, so that'll keep me busy for an hour or two, and finally managed to find a dealer who actually has some 100 degree solder in stock so that's on the way too!

Returning to this build after a few months of inactivity on it, I managed to finish it (apart from weathering) including DCC decoder fitting, so here it is attached to a 'gift' I was given, about 18 various LMS Triang/Hornby, Mainline and Airfix goods wagons, tanks and a couple of brake vans from Bro-in-law as He's been clearing out his loft. These all had the dreaded plastic wheels, so I've converted them all to metal wheels and was going to also convert to my standard Kadee couplings, but had second thoughts and just converted one end of the first wagon as I'll keep all these wagons in one rake, since they all run nicely enough. My next 00 gauge project kit is the Hawthorn-Leslie I bought earlier this year, but for now I want to get stuck into the 0 gauge Connoisseur '02' tank loco for something a bit different (and bigger!), so I'll make a start on that shortly.

ooh Keith that one looks a little cracker... very nice indeed, I often think its almost a shame to weather nice paint jobs but then again in the interests of realism...:tophat::tophat::tophat:

I did try suggesting to Mrs M that a nice curving viaduct at the bottom of the lawn would look great against the local back ground vista but I fear I probably did more harm than good as far as a garden railway idea would go.:avatar:
