Paul that's really un fair of you, showing new shiny things THAT THEY WON'T POST TO AUSTRALIA !! I think you need to fill the company jet up with a few, plus some o gauge track, wagons, loco's.............roll on November !
Sorry Kimbo Is amazon.au nobbled, its more like a library than a shop. The bay however is a bit eclectic http://www.ebay.ca/itm/SP180K-Double-action-Trigger-Air-paint-Control-Airbrush-0-2mm-0-3mm-0-5mm-Needle-/291658942430?hash=item43e83a47de:g:sPQAAOSwFqJWle6q Paul
Now that's a shiney, shiney ! Nice gun Paul. Looking forward to seeing the fruits of your labor ! So, I send you my models for painting, then you send me your whole collection of lovely O gauge models for weathering.... Cheers, Gary.
Hi Gary It's been used in anger on the Parksdie fish van http://p1mrc.com/p1mrc/view_topic.php?id=746&forum_id=51&page=2 I'm well impressed with its performance. I have seen the version without the interchangeable cups for approx £18 on ebay. With my old cheapo airbrushes - two of them were included with my compressor, I was getting orange peel effects, and various flow issues. Checked the compressor before starting this project, and it was sitting at 35psi, also the old brush needle had a rag on the tip. So I reduced the pressure to 15psi, and made my paint thinner and it seemed to work. I did order extra needles, and have fitted one to the old brush. Will need to do more testing Paul
All of my airbrushing is done between 15 and 20 psi. It gives a good flow and excellent air/paint ratio. As you know, several light coats are better than one or two heavy coats. Cheers, Gary.
A quick test on the GUV prior to tackling the weathering on the fish van. Alight spray of desert sand, followed by a dust wash on the underframes Paul
Hi Gary Paint brush so far. With the Dust wash, I apply small amount of the wash, then use neat thinners to spread it around and really thin it down. A small amount goes a long way, and it doesn't look right untill its dried - which brings in a lot of guess work and wishful thinking. Paul
Looking good Paul, works for me. Don't forget to weather those coupling bars. Like Gary I set my pressure to 16-18 and make sure the paint is thinned and mixed really well.
Cheers Guys Kimbo the Angle Iron girder at the end is due to be cut off and replaced with a Kadee coupling. Paul
paul_l wrote: Well I finally found one for the hefty sum of nearly $39 delivered http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/231979760559?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Thanks Paul. ( I used one exactly the same the other week that cost the owner $169.95!!)
I find the pistol grip very easy to use but for those really fine bits of detailing it can be a bit difficult to control, hence the reason for this purchase which will only be used for finer work. Looking forward to having a play with it when it arrives......in a months time
Well the remainder of my amazon order arrived today . . . . 50 x 15ml bottles with dropper top. These should allow me to make up paint thinned to the correct level, then use again later. If its goping to be a while, I can put a mark on the bottle, then if there is any evaporation I can top it back up with thinners. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01F5GSM4O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Paul
