There are many on this forum who enjoy the use of what I know as a "Clarkson Wrench", named after the motoring journalist, otherwise known as a hammer.
Now what good is a hammer if you don't have something to hit against?
    Hence an anvil.
Well locally a decent sized anvil costs about $400.
I picked up a little 5kg one at the local Gasweld a short while ago for about $25 which I thought was pretty good.
Then i came across the holy grail.
Being a surveyor on occasional rail jobs I always hope to find a small length of rail to make an anvil from, how cool would that be? After 6 years of looking I still have not found one, found a National Rail sledgehammer head with broken handle in a clump of lantana so that was alright.
Finally last week we had council clean-up, one of my favorite things, and what did I find, but the perfect length too, even with some useful looking holes. Was really hard to take back home on the bike though...

 a thing of beauty. Just what I need for my metcalfe kits.:avatar::avatar:

A wire brush and some WD40 then some nice blue hammerite. Ya dancer. :worship:

    I'm suitably jealous.
