G`day Folks, Welcome to the first episode of Gormo`s Shed for 2017. What happened to 2016..?????.......it seems like a distant memory now....or is that just me getting older.????? Recycling.......an important thing for the environment I feel, and I would suggest to you all that railway modellers are particularly good at it.!!! Let`s face it....most of us recycle at least some parts of our railways and that I feel is a good thing. Why waste materials that are perfectly good, even if they need a make over. Sometimes, that wagon you saved from the Bay, even though it`s old and a bit battered, will be of more value to you than the brand new specimen you bought from the shop, because you put the work in to restore it and make it unique. It`s special because you did it, you made something out of what could be deemed a reject. A very satisfying experience I would suggest. Now this week I`m giving you folks an ear bashing about some of the stuff I`ve recycled in the hope that it might inspire you to consider even more materials for use, than you already do. So have a look folks and see what you reckon.......there`s probably nothing new for you old hands but the young fellas might get something valuable out of it.??? Yeah and stripping down audio appliances etc. A great selection of very handy and varied screws, nuts, and all sorts.
Great video Gormo I too have a don't throw that out until I get all the parts from it view. One source of really good parts are old home "printers" great for screws etc but the motors in these units are usually super high quality units, spec for 12 volts or less And some of the all in one scanners/printers are full of nice precision guide mechanism's that you can use the parts from for projects
If any Australian member wants old parts please let me know. This includes complete computers with power supplies, printers, parts, cables nut and bolts. Andrew
Thanks Guys, That`s the idea Ron...to get people thinking about alternative options. Toto....there are so many little bits and pieces in these appliances...it`s like going shopping once you open them up.!!! Thanks Chris....I forgot to mention printers and you are absolutely correct, they are full of precision parts for the scratch builder engineer. Andrew that`s very generous of you.....I`m sure somebody will take you up on your offer. http://www.clickGormo
