    G`day Folks,

Another week has turned around and here we are in a new place technically. The forum migration has moved us all through cyber space and here we are as though nothing has happened.

This week I have for you a technique for re-sizing flocking, and anything else that you may think would work, by using a coffee grinder.

Gary put me onto this quite a while back and it has come in handy for re-sizing some home made flocking I had created a few years ago. The original was broken down from foam rubber cubes by using a kitchen grater, but the grater can`t reduce the foam rubber to fine pieces like the coffee grinder can.

The video takes you through it.....it`s not rocket science but it`s one of things to pack into the memory bank for further use in the future if need be.

    Hello Gromo,

Just watched your latest video using the coffee blender. Great idea. If you're planning to cover any more filming on blending, I'd love you show us a demonstration of you using your homemade static grass and compared to the one off the shelf. I've just moved into a old house with the old underlay, you described in your film. Which I threw away – If only I knew. Still there's more old carpet in the house that needs lifting, so fingers crossed.

    OK Mookie,

Leave it with me and I`ll do a demo in the next couple of days.

One thing to bear in mind is that the difference between home made static grass and the commercial stuff is that the length of the home made fibres is random due to the way it`s chopped up.

That doesn`t bother me because I`ve always mixed the commercial products anyway. I don`t believe fields should have completely even height grass of all the same colour.....it`s not natural. However if you are wanting the manicured lawn look, maybe a commercial product would be better.

By making your own, you are supplementing the commercial product to the extent where you must be saving a few bob.!!!
