And ........ if things go to plan ......Lulworth ( with kind permission from Scottystitch) will be being offered up to the Elgin Exhibition in 2019 under the platform one banner. We had a good Chin wag about it this weekend ( well yesterday ) and Scotty was as keen to offer his layout up as we were to have the chance to provide another layout to Elgin once we get this year's O Gauge offering over with. It will be the first N Gauge layout that we will have had the pleasure of showcasing.

With a fleet like the one listed above......... It will be some offering. More on that as things develop.

    Cheers

    Toto

Progress, of a slow nature. My mental health gets in the way and there are good days and bad days. The worst of the days sees me compiling a list to sell the whole lot........

The incline from the cement terminal heads up towards the middle storage yard, via underneath the main station board. It's a nominal 1% incline and needs to e right before the station board goes on top.

Risers are 9mm ply glued to the baseboard frame ribs with Evo-Stik wood glue (the green bottle). The track bed is then 5mm ply. On the curves, this is glued to the tops of the risers, but along the wall, the thickness of the frame and the supporting beam is too too great for my clamps, so these are pinned in place to ensure proper contact whilst the glue goes off.

The route of teh trackbed is important as it has to avoid point servos, etc. hanging under the station board above.

    After construction, a test.

The cement terminal will almost exclusively be served by Type 2s, and certainly no steam, so a 26 is used for the test. The test train is neatly double the length it will be in reality so lots of room for wiggle.

I tried the 08, and it pulled the full load but there was some wheelslip, which I don't like. So the 08 will have to be for lighter loads, if at all.

The second video shows good slow speed pulling on the steepest part of the incline

    Overall I'm pleased

    Hi Scotty,

some mighty fine wood working going on there. It oozes quality and speaks for itself really. It also looks very sturdy with the use of 9mm ply helping to keep the weight down.

    lovely build Good Sir.

PS ..... pm on its way.

With the incline tested and satis., attention has turned to the cement Terminal. This will be the first part of the layout to have track installed.

The Anyrail plan was printed out full size and then pinned to the baseboard in its proper position. S&Cs placed in position and a handful of wagons laid down to give an impression. Obviously these will be cement Presflow/Cemflow wagons when operational.

The reality will differ from the plan in that the sidings will be fanned out a bit more. The mainline runs in behind the terminal on an embankment and two of the tracks can be seen in the lower left hand corner of the first image.

Just caught up with this thread and don't know how I missed it first time. This looks very impressive and I look forward to seeing it develop.

Glasgow North is unfortunately dead. The layout, to operate the way I wanted, relied on a Nelevator, indeed it was designed around a Nelevator. However, I have now canceled my Nelevator order, and so with it Glasgow North.

Perth Caledonian will hopefully take its place, with a conventional storage/fiddle yard on the wall where Glasgow North was to be. The layout has been laid out in Anyrail and is close to having its design frozen. The cement terminal will remain but, since I've decided to lay the scenic section for Perth Caledonian in Finetrax code 40, kit built track, I may relay it to the same standard.

More to follow in a separate thread. Sometime.

    Best

    Scott.

I had heard that Nelevator were having problems in keeping up with demand and were not fulfilling orders, often a problem for what I understand is/was a part-time "Cottage Industry" company. If success comes but the company is unable to keep up and reluctant to commit to 'full-time' work, then failure is often the outcome and an initial good idea goes out the window due to lack of commitment. A shame as the idea is brilliant and a big space-saver.

    Hi Keith,

I don't want to say too much about my Nelevator experience, for a number of reasons. But with it out of the way, I can now begin building the new layout in earnest.

    Best

Sorry to hear that, but look forward to seeing the progress on Perth.
