My latest 'pride of the fleet' is my newly acquired Kernows LSWR Adams 02, which was made in conjunction with Dave Jones (DJ Models). My model is presented in plain black with Bulleid 'sunshine' lettering, and features a wealth of separately applied detail parts including prominent Westinghouse air pump and pull-push equipment and finely moulded pipework. It is fitted with a six pin decoder socket which can be found behind the smoke box door, to which is fitted and aligned with tiny neodymium magnets. The loco has been designed with sound in mind. A sugar cube speaker will fit neatly into the coal bunker and provisions have been made for the associated wiring. The loco has all wheel pick-up, which will guarantee no failures across point work. My model arrived on the 15th October 2015, and there I was thinking it wouldn't arrive until later in the year. So, a few pics of this lovely loco... As you can see, I still haven't added the small details to the loco, nor weathered it. I do wish to put a crew inside the cab and this is a relatively easy task. Under the fake coal load, which pops out quite easily, is two small screws that hold the cab roof on. Undo these and you have full access to the detailed cab. I'll wait a while to do the above, as I would really like to get sound for this loco, so there is no rush to add the extra details. Cheers, Gary.
That is nice looking loco, now just got hope someone looks north of the border to make some 0-4-4T's Paul
It's a brave man that takes on the weathering of that loco. Do you have any prototype photo's to work off ? Toto
I got brave with my BR one - but I stuck to just toning things down a bit with various washes of blacks, browns and greys. Most of it was around the pipework, smokebox and below the running board level.
It looks good too. Not over cooked. I've never seen such detail on a model before. Stands out from the rest. Toto
Sorry Gary, but I think I prefer the BR Lined version, and as Toto said, the weathering looks spot on. Paul
I like the Southern version; the Bulleid 'sunshine' lettering adds a good splash of colour. Once Gary gets brave and tones down the bright pipework, that will look like a well kept but hard-working locomotive. Incidentally, although you can't see them, I have added a crew to mine. As Gary said, it is dead easy to get into the cab to do this. Mine is permanently allocated to pull-push work so I left off the front coupling and added all the pipes - that was a job and a half and involved a deal of swearing and retrieving dropped pipes from the carpet!
It looked good running around on GCJ. I tried to distract Gary and park it in a hidden siding but he remembered to take it home again.....Shucks, curses....foiled again!!!! Seriously though folks.....it`s a sensational little model and extremely well thought out. http://www.click Gormo
