Hi I need some advice on what colour I should paint my concrete fence posts before I add the four lengths of wire. I want to make them look realistic and not just paint them grey. Any advice would be great.
Concrete can light grey or white ish. I reckon dirty white with a touch of green guess it depends if they are supposed to be new or old. Loads of pictures on line.
Thanks for your reply Walkingthedog. I managed to look at some pictures and there is a variation of colours due to the age of the concrete posts and the steel inside rusting. I should be able to paint the posts a medium grey colour then dry brush with white, followed by some areas of rust showing through.
Concrete posts are rarely a smooth even finish, so maybe undercoating them with a paint and talc mix, then, once dry, paint a lightish grey followed by a darker dry brushing to highlight them. As Brian says, trial and error and use the real thing for inspiration. Cheers, Pete.
I the knicked idea many moons ago from Model Railway Journal, they used it to give texture to the roadway on the Inkerman Street layout build. Pete.
