......plus he gets to sit in front of first class passengers and gets paid to come over for a day's play, can't even turn up early to help set up still he is paying for drinks and lunch
Ok, so I'll just need to correct you on a couple of points. There are no first class passengers. That went out when Wilbur suggested it to Orville and was promptly told that no one was stupid enough to render a payment of a years wages to fly a few metres through the air on a flying contraption made by a drunken bicycle salesman. The second point is that I would be more than happy to help you 'set up' but quite frankly couldn't be arsed having to get out of bed so early on what would technically be a day off for me. However I will overlook your innocent mistakes and agree to purchase you your Luncheon and Ales on the day of the exhibition. Of course in return I shall bring my collection of OO locomotives and have you chip and light them while I procure the aforementioned humble pie and beverage. http://www.clickhttp://www.click
Sounds like a fair plan to me. Now, as your going to Perth, Dundee is just a few miles up the road, and has an airport, swing by and I'll keep you company Paul
Settle down Paul, the Brickpit at Thornleigh is calling ! Three solid days of mayhem trying to run two layouts and promote P1MRC, not to mention having the punters sign up ! Cheers, Gary.
Yeh, but think yourself lucky, I get stuck with Toto Starting friday night I'm on holiday - no rest, just not at work ! Worst of both worlds - job list from Spawn of SWMBO - Kirsty my daughter is moving back home, so that'll be me both hen pecked and chicken pecked Sure you don't need help for the show Paul
Get on a plane now. You can help out Kimbo this weekend, then you can help Chris and myself the following weekend ! Cheers, Gary.
Gary wrote: Sounds like a great plan too get out of a little bit of domestic duties. Got a spare Bed here for between train shows. and Sydney is looking great as the Vivid light festival is on as well. Just keep your eyes open for all the thinks that will get you Attached files
Wimps, wait till ye get midgies, they'd make Crocodile Dundee cry Chris - I see the job for the Oz tourist board panned out then One fly in the ointment, Spawn of SWMBO says not until I moved her stuff - it took best part of two years to move it all out in the first place, and now I've a week to move it back Paul
Midgies, arhh, there nothing ! I bet if you brought a swarm of them down, they wouldn't fly, but piggy back on our mozzies...! Cheers, Gary.
Kim best of luck with the show this weekend I'm guessing your all set up by now and ready to wow them. Enjoy the weekend Looking forward to some updates from the Show
Thanks Chris, yes I'm all set up with the help of a few reliable mates. The layout looks nice and dark with the lights switched off even with the hall lights almost directly over the layout, so we should be able to show off the lighting features quite well. Ill try and remember to take pictures before the general public are allowed in. Right I'm off to pick a crew member up and make our way up to Perth. Kimhttp://www.click
Good luck mate, and more importantly, don't get too stressed enjoy playing trains for a whole weekend I'm sure LSD will blow thier minds Paul
Ah that explains why corks around the hat Kimbo... midges! ... I thought they were a daily tally of the amount of vino supped... ? ... feel silly in my hat now ... I think I'll take them off! .... Ian vt
Thanks guys http://www.click One day down, two to go. Every one seemed to enjoy a bit of LSD,! Lots of very nice comments, plenty of cameras flashing and a few budding Spielberg's including some strange pilot bloke from over east RC trucks, as expected kept every one entertained. The Thames performed a few wheelies on to the Lowmac, and then off again. One point frog failure, faulty switch, and for some strange reason very dirty track, which we think might be the environment within the hall. I've just finished cleaning all the loco wheels and the track will get another good clean before battle commences tomorrow. I'll get some pictures up when I can. Kim
One down, two to go. Did you get your faulty frog/switch sorted for the day or was it an after the exhibition closes exercise ? Have you got that FIFO (fly in/fly out) on a 457 work visa ?? I believe he is high demand... Cheers, Gary.
Exhibitions do strange things to layouts Kim, they can work perfectly one minute, the next you are up to the ears in soldering irons and track cleaners, I have just returned from the Gauge "O" Guilds trade show at Doncaster, one of the mates was operating Yeomans Quay the Sheffield O groups layout when it suddenly decided to start shorting out on a board joint, he sorted that out and the short moved somewhere else , they certainly keep you on your toe,s.... Cheers mate, Pete.
Congrats on the Debut of LSD Kim Only minor teething issues and I'm sure they didn't stop you. The dirty track seems to be a real issues esp if using DCC with all the Humans around the amount of vapor and other human body by waste seems to create a grungy layer that Coates the track and sticks to wheels the like you never see at home with just youself and the odd visitor. Best of luck for the next 2days.
