The Winning "Silverware" has finally arrived from AMRA. Thanks to Ali for picking them up for mehttp://www.clickThe two first place awards.... and the third place award... So these will go straight to the "pool room" !!!
Next week will be 12 months since LSD was entered into the AMRA Perth show, where does the time go. So 12 months on the layout still has the odd running session between working on the extension and overall has fared well in its new position in the railway room. I have notices that the low relief buildings at the very back have suffered some twisting and warping, but only on the honey coned plastic signage boards that I used. The Ply boards are fine. The layout did not mind been lifted up some 43mm to help out with the planned two levels on the extension boards, thanks to all those that helped out with the lift, not a job I was looking forward to. This weekend we had a meet up here, as Steve was on a stop over in Perth and the normal plate layer crew came down for a play.... sorry I mean an extensive testing session/ drinking tea and eating cakes (thanks John). It was noted that apart from a small amount of track cleaning , that I need to trim the under growth some what !!! [line] As you can see I've been busy with a few trees. I did attempt a few failed home made "Gormo" twisted trees as per his excellent how to, but at the size and scale I need I think the wire I had was to small. I will attempt Gormo's method again when I have some larger diameter wire at hand. But as I need in excess of 100 trees + I have opted for natural "super trees" which I think is the same a "sea foam" trees in the UK ?? So after several hours preparing, dipping in matte medium, flocking , drying and spraying with medium to seal, I have planted a few to give an idea of the tree / bush lined backdrop I want to achieve on the main scenic boards. Something like this :- The biggest scale up to approx 38 feet in O gauge, with most been 25- 35 feet. Three types of woodland scenic flock ( in two shades) have been used. If anyone wants a how to on them please let me know and Ill post something up for you
Some of that sea foam certainly has thick trunks. I guess that depends on the size of the bag you purchased. I too have used the sea foam method and they make great trees, although my trees aren't as tall as yours. Cheers, Gary.
RALPH wrote: Ralph I Saw what you did there. But think you are Barking Mad to make such a bad pun about Kim's trees! Everyone knows that it's not the done thing to Lumber in here and try and get a laugh from such Wooden humour. Quite frankly when he gets the lawyers on to you, you won't have a leg to stand on. Stop Milling about and do something constructive before everyone else starts Chipping in. You would never catch me doing such a thing on someone else's thread. If I did I'd expect to get the axe quick smart. Now on your way, Chop Chop!

Congrats on POTW - either Toto has finally got his eyesight back from the effects of Brandy Shandies, or the pixels travel very slowl;y in the heat. Great picture of a classic loco, always had a soft spot for the 08 as it was my first loco. Paul
Congratulations on PotW Kimbo. I like the 08s, but the trees you have made, really make the scene. Cheers, Gary.
Great shot and freat modelling, I was having a look at LSD last night. Great work. Are you still exhibiting it this year? Cameron
http://www.click Toto, Paul, Gary, Ralph and Cameron. Very nice surprise.I think its the trees more than the loco that make this a nice picture the loco desperately needs weathering, I must move it up my to do list. Hi Cameron, Thank you, No not this year as there is only really the one show on in the Perth area, and this year I went along to help out with the club's layout. I might take it next year and run diesel loco's only. Kim
Congrats Kim on POTW, as I can't see the wood for the trees it must be the 08 that's stumped up as the Star, it's all looking good what everway you cut it. http://www.click
