After seeing kimbo's I thought I'd like another but to try a build this time so its on its way. Pictures when it arrives. cheers toto
Hi Toto, I have one of these in the stash albeit I think mine is one of the earlier incarnations of the kit (Mine is labelled Majestic Models). Perhap we ought to do a joint online build at some point (not this year though - I have a few commissions to do this year.)
Hi Rob, Mine arrived today. Looks not bad on first inspection. The boiler is pre rolled ..... Phew ..... But there is a little bending to form the top of the cab sides. Apart from that ..... Looks good. I'll post up a few pictures later as usual.
When you do I will dig mine out and take some photos to compare the two to see if they are indeed the same kit. As I understand it from George Dawson (former owner of Majestic Models), it was designed by Jim Harris Jim Harris kits are a bit Marmite in that people either love them or hate them...
Well ..... you show me yours and I'll show you mine ... here it is ...... It looks a nice finish in the blue .... or at least I think thats blue. the destructions ...... very wordy and not very pictury..... but clear enough ...... I think. the boiler top and .... and under carriage piece thing. different. Ohhhhhh the bain of my life ....... the white metal and brass bits ....... wheels, motor and gear box ..... supplied at an extra charge. wire, rods and a bit copper clad. Chassis, doofers and bobbers ........ cabby thingy bits and boiler door etc ........ The floory thing, buffer beams and thingies. And ....... thats bout it. looks a nice kit but as usual ..... the proof will be in the building and completed model so the jury is out ......... probably for some time. C'mon Rob ..... get it out ....... the J94 that is ...... this is a family show. cheers toto
Gonna be a challenge Toto and even if you messed up no one could prove it as I reckon you won't have any fingerprints left ... actually I reckon your up to it Ian vt
Toto said ... "Ohhhhhh the bain of my life ....... the white metal and brass bits ......." Well stop buying them then Time to warm up the soldering Iron and get that production line going Paul
Sorry guys, I have been away for the weekend. I will dig mine out tomorrow and take photos to compare, it certainly doesn't have any wire/PCB that I recall.
Yes, I did thanks. Well, I dug my kit out and it certainly looks the same kit. My mind was also playing tricks on me because it does indeed have wires and a strip of pcb. I have added the wheels and I have a motor and most likely a gearbox that I could use.
Having looked again a bit more closely I think you have the better one of the two. Yours looks to have updated coupling rods mine seems to have a single layer etch - something that will need remedying before I start.- I can see a set of Premier rods being added to the box at some point as funds allow.
