Let's start buy saying it's been a long time coming this Shiny. As with most Australian O scale you usually have to order and pay up front and wait and hope you don't die before it's delivered for this privilege you get a hefty discount on the final price but the wait can be agonising, this model I paid for almost 2-3 year ago it's so long ago I can't really remember. It's a model of the New South Wales Government Railways "Goodwin Alco" 45class main line Diesel Electric locomotive. Brass construction with very fine detail even has the wheel sanders on the bogies connected via flexable hose to the sand boxes on the chassis, hand brake chain is fully represented. Even has a bank of switches under a panel in the roof the you can switch all the lights on/off with for if you are using on DC The Cab is detailed and even is fitted with a "Driver", a first for an Australian RTR O scale Model. First impressions are it's a beautiful model with lots of fine detail Next will to be a test then see if it's an easy convert to DCC or not! as the company's last O scale loco wasn't an easy job, Basic but complicated due to the design, this one has lost of options for lights so may be some time involved to get the combos right. Any way here it is 4520 This loco is preserved now in Australia and sees regular mainline opperation. Attached files
Gary wrote: Thanks Gary Yes super Happy too that I asked them not to post it as I didn't want it damaged by Aust Post but they sent my Black Caviar Ltd edition Model on that same day, and it looks like it has been stolen in the post Aust post can't find it was scanned into a deliver van to be "delivered" but never was and between depot and post office it never scanned out to the post office or the depot on the vans return, but I also got the tracking that says attempted delivery at 8am and on that day I was on the drive way at 8 am and never left the house the rest of that day The delivery guy told me that he never had anything for me on that day me think's some light fingered scrote me have been at work been several days to go 10min between depots and the depots manager won't return the Aust post service investigators calls or answer there emails as to the how or where of the parcel not reassuring when the first thing they ask is was it insured when they have been trying to get answered from the depots. But super happy with the 45class model. The other shiny I got is on my new FB Green and Yellow Freight liner loco's
DCC first Paul then it will get a bit of grime. Waiting for the latest TCS decoder to be released hopefully only a week or so away Should be fun to do
Fantastic loco Chris but I`m sorry to hear about your Black Caviar...... Was it insured.???? http://www.clickGormo
gormo wrote: Thanks Gormo No not insured by Auscision when they sent but I visited the shop on Saturday when I picked up the 45 and they have put one on one side and will replace it if it's not found. Having a good working relation with the supplier helps.
Now that is one beautiful loco! the level of detail is excellent and to have the lights switched for DC is great thinking ahead . Cheers, Pete.
The shiny Big Beasty ventured out on the Moonan Flats branch line on trial today as with all new Loco's to the Hunter Valley fleet, the local inspectors use the steep grades out to the edge of the Barrington Tops at Moonan Flats to test out any new locos sent to them before they enter service. Here's the first of the local Gunzel's images captured of the shiny Beast at Moonan Flats Edit my internet service is so poor tonight that keeps timing out when trying to add the photos will try tomorrow Sorry 😐 about no photo yet. Hello All, For those not in the know the NSWGR Cl 45 was a hood version of the Cl 44 . I saw them on the Hunter Valley coal trains to Singleton as they rolled through Maitland in 1976 whilst on annual leave. I remember getting in position under the Maitland Signal Box preparing to photograph the next coalie when a cl 45 lead down empty coalie rolled by, scared the living day lights out of me as I did not hear it coming till the driver gave me a long air horn blast. I understand the AFULE / Australian Federated Union of Locomotive Enginemen banned them due to excessive cab noise. Their cabs were definitely compact , so that ended up as trailing units only. But that O Gauge ( ΒΌ " US scale ? ) version sure captures the bulk of the prototype. On another matter is not Freightliner a Genesee & Wyoming subsidiary these days ? If so what will happen to Freightliner Australia ? Always liked the NSWGR maroon with yellow lining , seemed to weather well compared to the candy colour . ( a bit tacky vulgar and impracticle for me , just like its originator ) The Prototype colour schemes need to weather well as the railway is a dirty environment so the colour selection needs to look good from a distance and reasonably close up. Alternatively be prepared to do lots of cleaning and touch ups . The modern fad for vinyls can quickly get shabby , and shabby is not a good look to promote a service. Anyways, lovely models, Best wishes and regards, Echidna
That is one impressive looking beast. I follow their page on Facebook and they do seem to make top quality products. A bit like an Australian Rapido trains
