So, had my eye op, still not perfect but getting there.... and in the meantime events elsewhere have taken a turn. I've been selling off a few of my remaining oo items on the local 'buy and sell' internet site and I met an Irish guy who lives in Malaga. We got talking about my 'Just in case' project and he told me about his neighbour, a Dutchman who's returning to Holland and happens to have a layout in a case he wants to sell (you know what's coming from the title) Sooo ... when he returns from Madrid I will be the proud but poorer owner of a similar item to the one shown below. I would have preferred the summer version but for the price I'm happy. Anyway, I thought, 9 years I've been here trying to build a layout and not seen a wheel turn so b*****r it! I've got the rolling stock and will continue my other case build but finally woo woo ... Chuffin good ... Er not tellin her indoors how much even though it was half price ... Ish ... ps I don't pay for it untill it's tried and tested. And it'll be running UK stock ... Unless Santa thinks otherwise ...
And when the other 5/8ths finds out your new Kareoki song will be ..... All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go ........ That's impressive Ian, but won't that snow melt in spain Paul
Not if I put a snow goat on it ... Or cold beer near it ... Or the other 5/8ths gives me the cold shoulder ... Or I leave on the midnight train to Georgia
Well i have received my Noch case layout from Thomas and apart from a few minor scratches' on the base and a niggly curved point stoppage )depending which loco is running= I'm happy ... well there was the incident where I stuck a noch n scale snowman to my finger with super glue ... but we won't linger on that ..i will eventually paint the sleepers white ---
So it begins .. I've added more trees and also picked up this very small Bluetooth speaker €20 so that I could add sounds to the scene (the other 5/8ths wants Christmas music ... oddly so do I now ... ? ... watch and laptop not included ... i have a 'Chuffer unit' from MRRails for the loco noise. )
For the other 5/8ths Christmas (there I've said the word) layout … micro led’s + mini trees + mini Bluetooth speaker = festive cheer and no awkward questions! Photo isn't very clear but actual result is excellent
Getting there … sort of … battery operated street lights (work in progress) supposedly over 100 hours duration
new addition from Hatton's ... second hand but runs excellent and even has lights ... street lights to go on next followed by Christmas lights
a new Christmas addition ... both locos are pre-owned from Hatton's each with lights and are in excellent condition ... the rear one is Kato the front one is Arnold
Trimmed the lamposts (removed the large bowls) and added a mulled wine kiosk … painting to do including the track sleepers then catenary (non-working) yodel-odel-odel-do … spot the Scarab … just a fun thing
Should the loco's be the other way round, as Arnold is always saying "I'll be back" Ah going for the mulled tinto, is that you outside the kiosk Happy New Year mate Paul
View attachment 42821 More work on Noch Noch … lamp posts painted (snow effect) track similar but more to do … hut/shed located (nearest store to support mulled wine kiosk … rearmost for Xmas tree sales) and sheep being brought down from the hills ... having fun View attachment 42820 View attachment 42821 View attachment 42822 View attachment 42822
Gosh that does look good Ian... as Dundee says Happy New Year mate... enjoy the tinto, it looks cold in that suitcase.
