Well it's been a while, but this picture is my new Black 5 on return to my layout, from Kim's after he put her through her paces !! on Lord Street Extension (video), she had no lining, numbers. (plain) So decided it would look much better, lined, numbered etc, etc.so Fox Transfers black 5 transfer set ordered. Meanwhile found pictures of the one I wanted to replicate. Whist waiting to be Scrapped When saved and restored So let battle commence Now with the help of Chris we got stuck into lining the beast (part 1) (Part 2 ) (Part 3) finishing first side. Thanks for pictures Kim. This side done. We didn't realise how long you have or can hold your breath when doing this type of work. But it's worth it in the end, I still have plenty to do, like weathering, windows, coal, crew. http://www.click RALPH
Pity postage from the UK to Aus is so steep as I know where I'd be sending mine Nice job, and looking forward to seeing the final loco. Paul
Beautiful work on the lining and numbering Ralph (& Chris). Don't worry about what Paul said, postage to Sydney is far cheaper so if you want to scrap it, I know someone who will look after it ! Cheers, Gary.
A true example of patience and dexterity ... I lost both somewhere along the line ... excellent work Ian vt
Gary wrote: Your right Gary you know I will look after it it can keep the 9F company in the engine shed Great work to all what a nice finish, no longer a plain Jane Black beauty, Decals can be one of those things that are magic or nightmare
Superb lining out work there Ralph and what good light you have in the work space too. A thoroughly nice loco the Black 5, are you going with the 24B shed plate also? Cheers York Paul
Thank you ALL for your appreciated comments.(Paul) don't think I will be doing Shed plates or Name plates as when it was restored they named it Lancashire Fusilier.http://www.clickRALPH
Well it may have taken a few weeks to finally get it sorted Ralph, but as said above, great job you and Chris have done. ðŸ‘🻠Shame it's all going to get covered up when weathered
Before and After a little more work on mi Black 5, Method I used was cutting and shaping cereal box card, when happy removed card, then placed grease proof paper in tender, then replaced card and PVA glued in coal, with tender angled so as glue didn't run down and out. ( real coal from H.V.R.Hotham Valley Railway.(broken down to a realistic size) http://www.clickRALPH
Time for a few loco drivers and firemen. these bought from Omen Miniatures, which are thewhite metal ones, Unpainted so made a start this last couple of days to attempt painting them. Still parts of some to paint and the two on left not started. So to me It's worth buying them Unpainted, this way makes them four times cheaper than ready painted. http://www.clickRALPH
Great looking figures, icing on the cake for a fantastic looking loco http://www.click. Cheer's, Pete.
..... and they all look different, even if its the same figure. Just wondering how you get them all in Very nice job Ralph Paul
